HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE--those on the Emerald Isle and those whose people have come from there. God save Ireland and the Irish people!
I always loved singing , 'Hail Glorious St Patrick', on the Day. No masses and so no hymns, what a shame. My thoughts now turn to Easter. I am wondering again of our Bishops will close our Churches to the Easter mysteries one more time as, Non essential'. As the have for instance in Italy and in Rome, the very heart of the Church. But it is such a beautiful day so I must not whinge too much. The sun is shining. My daffodils and crocus's are all out. I am delighted all the pubs are shut, St Padraig must love that one at least. I am trying to be positive at the moment and look for the good bright things. The bad things are so obvious they do not need underlining. Let me see if I can think of ten positive things to make me smile on the Feast Day. 1 God loves us just as much as the day He Created us and died for us on the Cross. He loves us so much it has no limits. 2. Mary is our Mother. If we knew how much she loves us we would die of joy. 3. Heaven awaits us. The Golden Gates lie open . All we have to do is to live the Gospel Message and so walk right on it. 4. We are surrounded by a great crowd of angels and saints on every side. 5. The devil has been defeated. All this is now is only a mopping up operation. 6. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, making our hearts a constant shout of joy. 7. God holds us like a child in His Great arms 8. For those who love God all things work out for the very best. 9. Great Crosses mean Great Crowns. 10. God is calling us and leading us to be Great Saints. To be the best we could ever hope to be. We just have to let him do it.
There are tears in my eyes. I never hear that hymn on this day without tears of joy and pride. May God grant you all, Irish and otherwise the same huge joy on this Great Feast Day.
Thanks you all for sharing the lovely greetings and pictures and songs. Here's another old favourite song/hymn. Happy Saint Patricks day everyone. Been to Holy Mass sporting Saint Patricks day badge. Brought all forum members to the Lord for His Blessings in all our circumstances at this time. Glory and Praise to God. Nipped into the shop on the way home from Mass and brought some apple turnovers to celebrate. Apple turnovers are fist sized pastries stuffed with sweetened apples, and sugar coating on the outside. In case anyone is wonder what they are.
Happy St Patrick’s to all and most especially our Irish friends (yay there is even a green smiley emoji!) While I will admit I’m not fond of Guinness or even corned beef - I will raise my dago red and eat my pasta in salute to you all!
Me too. Thank you John for this lovely post, and for the pretty shamrocks that adorn our MOG forum. A blessed St.Patrick's Day to all, especially to our friends across the sea in Ireland.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Our 28th wedding anniversary. I chose this date to be married on (while still a Protestant) as it's a minor but "fun" holiday here.
I've never been in a cathedral, or even a huge ornate "church," and sometimes I wonder what I've missed out on. This is THE most "ornate" church I've attended; Episcopalian (2006 to 2008): Wish I could say I left with lots of fond memories, solid friendships, etc. ... but nope. What Jesus said about "white-washed sepulchers.
