Sometimes I read something, like this quote and I cry because it's so much what I need to hear and touches my heart so deeply. I'm a real softy these days. "Obedience is the only virtue that implants the other virtues in the heart and preserves them after they have been so implanted." -Pope St. Gregory the Great
There is I believe a special gift reserved for those who try to love Jesus deeply and that is the 'gift of tears' for some souls are sensitive to the things of the Spirit and the Spirit touches them as it pleases with loving inspirations and aspirations. The gift of tears are given sometimes on repentance, sometimes in spiritual healing especially if there is a healing of the inner child and sometimes as a gift that comes with the spirit of joy. The gift is of particular power with inner spiritual healing as often we need much inner healing and sometimes we are not even aware of it but the Spirit leads us - so if you are prone to tears don't worry - often it is the Spirit at work within healing those damaged areas. I think our Lady refers to this in her latest message of 2 June 2010 [again showing her spiritual genius!!] 'Free yourself of everything from the past which burdens you and gives you a sense of guilt; of everything that brought you to error - darkness. Accept the light. Be born anew in the justice of my Son'. The spirit un-burdens and frees us not only from sin but from the efects of sin for sin leaves a trace but when we are born anew in Jesus Christ true healing begins. This can be a painfully slow process if we have lived a sinful life and have been attached to serious sin. Mary of Magdala for instance needed a lot of interior healing and her conversion was marked by the gift of tears - she even washed Jesus feet with her tears and her hair - for me one of the most beautiful acts of love in the history of mankind. Dear God - set my heart on fire for the love of Jesus for there is nothing worse than indifference, lukewarmness and dryness.
Garabandal, This is beautiful, thank you I've never heard it articulated before but I've always known the tears were a gift. They started 13 yrs ago at my conversion into the church and increase and decrease as the days go by. They are on the rise now, maybe God is doing some fine tuning. Thank you, I needed to read this, and re-read this. Lee
Lee - it is definitely the Holy Spirit at work in your life - you are becoming sensitive to the things of the spirit so be open to all possibilities and gifts but always remain humble. Humility is key for humility is child-like so the smaller we become the greater God can work in us; John the Baptist indicated of Christ - 'he must increase, I must decrease'!
