There is something about St Maximillian Kolbe that I love. Although we know a lot he remains a man of mystery. If the Good Lord allows me into heaven I look forward to meeting this incredible saint.
You may enjoy this… I'm watching Life for Life: Maximilian Kolbe http://watch.formed.org/life-for-life-maximilian-kolbe
Yes, of course, I have posted this before the FSSPX in the UK, seems to have an organization of the Knights of the Immaculata, Saint Maximilian's organization: Militia Immaculatae - District of Great Britain (fsspx.uk) US: Militia of the Immaculata – Official Website of the Militia of the Immaculata USA I'd say, one does not need to officially join an organization to be part of the Militia of the Immaculata, to be a Knight, it is sort of, imho, a loose relationship. I still have a big bag of MMs (Miraculous Medals).... It might be just me, but I thought the one man stage play of St. Maximilian Kolbe by Leonardo Defillipis was absolutely a revelation, transforming and that 20 years ago.... Maximilian: Saint of Auschwitz - FORMED But formed has that one too. I watched it on VHS probably 20 times, they have an audio version and he also travelled around and gave performances. Kolbe Shrine 24 hour adoration chapel in Illinois: His brother also became a priest.
Here is the Militia Immaculata giving away "miraculous medals" but just giving the medal away is one thing, I taped them, at first to brochures, then, we made some business cards and affixed them to those. And then, with the flyers or brochures, we'd put them on car windows, I think I was a bit crazy to be doing stuff like that then, but so we did it. Here, about 5:18 into this video, the lady says she is going the whole 9 yards, giving it with a chain ... that would seem to get expensive but I see the point. One could also put it on a cord. The chain is a nice touch and maybe worth it if one reaches a soul. Then, I'd have to see how I can buy chains for the most economic value. Anyway, if anyone is really interested in distributing Miraculous Medals, I have my supply of about 250 left. I could easily give someone 50 let's say in the mail free.....back in the day, the MI Center ( Militia of the Immaculata – Official Website of the Militia of the Immaculata USA ) made a deal where they forged and made Miraculous Medals so they could be inexpensive to purchase, these are real light, not only that, they made them in a gold color, see picture. I once ran into someone and they were wearing one of these, little did she know, only a few people probably distributed this kind. We were able to take them to hospices and a few places like that as well. Though, I guess, one could leave the brochures in Churches, that's a bit too much for me, unless one gets permission first, that would be okay. I don't blame them, some Priests, staff, etc. are sensitive to just leaving things there... though, some are acceptable, prayers to St. Jude, we have a little box at church when people can place items. So, just saying. I don't know if we will ever find them made like this again. This is an example of the old time brochures they had which I think I liked a bit better than the present ones that are full color. This one was for the Knights at the Foot of the Cross movement of the MI, in fact, it meant "redemptive suffering", if one had some sort of ailment, etc. maybe even being a prisoner, offer it up to God. Share in the suffering of Christ on the cross. How to enroll in the MI – Militia of the Immaculata And here, I think one can enroll, no costs. They will probably send you an email newsletter, I get a daily reflection from them and the first of the month, they have their magazine viewable online.
I have a number of Miraculous Medals, each one attached to Our Lady's Brown Scapular so that an individual can be introduced to two holy sacramentals at the same time. It's an opportunity for personal witness and instruction. My previous pastor introduced me to this idea! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
I'm almost to the finish line, Ann, though the cold weather isn't an invite for the outdoors; this is the 3rd night in a row with temps at -10F or so. Standing by the wood-burning stove feels good!I still have body aches, but any fever and chills are basically gone. Geralyn's taking good care of me, but I miss Holy Mass. Thanks for your prayers! With a clear night and frigid temps, the long shadows cast by the moonlight made for a picturesque view when I got up in the middle of last night. How's the old saying go: there's a silver lining for any who keep their eyes open (cough, cough) God bless everyone on MOG!
This is good news but please keep taking care. It takes awhile to be sure its gone. We too are in frigid temps. I intend to go to Mass this AM but its going to be a sacrifice--well below zero and icy. But I had to miss last week because of weather. So I'm going to mush through. Husband and son are out on the lake since 6 30 ice fishing. Yikes.
