Bless this house, o Lord, we pray
Make it safe by night and day.
Bless these walls so firm and stout,
    Keeping want and trouble out.
Bless the roof and chimney tall,
Let thy peace lie over all.
Bless the doors that they may prove
Ever open to joy and love.

    Bless the windows shining bright,
    Letting in God’s heavenly light.
    Bless the hearth a-blazing there,
With smoke ascending like a prayer.

    Bless the people here within…
Keep them pure and free from sin.
Bless us all, that one day, we
May be fit, O lord, to dwell with Thee

I got into Mass this morning and it was lit up like a Christmas tree with candles. Beautiful!:)

Listening to the Gospel of St Luke this morning Luke specifically said Anna was aged 85 when she met the baby Lord. This exact age interested me. How did Luke know this when I suppose he was writing forty or more years after the event? Also he gives a very precise account of Anna's lineage..where did he get this?

My guess is he got this from Our Blessed Lady herself whom I am also guessing must have had a heart to heart with Anna. :)

Saint Brigid seems to have been an Irish Princess, well educated and accustomed to a role of authority. I remember reading somewhere that her Monastery was very much her own realm and that within it she had the power of even appointing the Bishop. So she was quite formidable.

My favourite thing about St Brigid was her huge charity. She never appeared to be tired of giving.

She reminds me of the Irish Blessing,

'May you giving hand never fail!' :):)
