I feel so at peace... I feel It could be a guide or beings that are watching over me, and I happened to see a glimpse of her...If I was scared I would be worried, but Iv never been so peaceful than when I see her
We were told that if you see something/someone or hear something that is not natural, you should sprinkle holy water at it and say; "In the name of Jesus who are you, what do you want." A genuine holy soul would be permitted by God in Jesus name, to let you know if your prayer for them would help. I would hate to have something like that around me. How can a living human person be at peace with a dark figure. And from the stories I have heard, intruding spirits can start off not causing any fear. They can be waiting for you to effectively invite them by accepting them, and then the fun (scary) part kicks in. Keep holy water at hand, and sprinkle it at that dark figure, or in the direction of where you spotted it. May Jesus protect you, may Saint Michael protect you.
I get mixed replies, one I get it's a spirit in purgatory, and then I get evil... I feel it's someone needing prayer since I feel at peace. I also get off Catholic sites it's a spirit that's peaceful .. since my house HAS been blessed NOT once BUT Twice I'm feeling it's someone in purgatory needing prayer..
Cover yourself in the Blood of Jesus immediately! And pray a binding prayer like this: In the Holy Name of Jesus I bind every spirit around me not of the Holy Spirit and I send you to the foot of the Cross of Jesus for Him to deal with as He wishes. In Jesus's Name be gone. Do NOT assume it is anything benign. If it is of God then in His Mercy He may reveal that but in such matters it is always wise to be very suspicious and protect yourself. Please.
If it is a soul in purgatory then have a Mass said but please do not assume anything. This can be a clever deception. Do not engage with it on any level.
Doesn't matter. Protect yourself. God will sort it out. Have a Mass said for this soul if you think "she" is from purgatory but that is it.
It is possible your natural instinct is spot on. A holy soul from purgatory needing prayer. But it is too risky to allow this shadowy figure into your home. I had a spook for a number of years after a certain person known to me died. I had only been told at that time to have nothing to do with spirits, and before internet days had no access to finding out about Holy Souls looking for help. So, I used to tell it to get lost, go away from me, let me live my life in peace. It was my turn to live and find my way to eternity. I told it tough if it had messed up and was left wandering about the earth. Not my problem. I endured it for five years with no one else hearing it except me. Then my grandson came to visit, and was shocked I did not react when we heard someone walking around upstairs. I knew it was the spook, and we searched every room and every cupboard and wardrobe, so my grandson was assured there was no physical person in the house except the two of us. But I was relieved to know someone else heard it too, proving I was not crazy. Our home had been blessed too. We had Holy Mass in the house. The weirdest thing, our Parish Priest visited us regularly. I knew he did exorcisms because he told us; he was a friend of my husband. But it never occurred to me to tell him about the spook. If he sensed anything, he never mentioned it to me. When I asked him to bless our home, he blessed every room, even the loo, and he said open the cupboards and wardrobes and he blessed inside them too. I can tell you that did not make the spook leave, it popped up from time to time till the day we moved from that house. I now know how to react if such a thing happened again. Using Holy Water, and saying "In the Name of Jesus, what do you want." Thank God.
The souls in Purgatory are not called Holy Souls without reason. There's nothing evil about them. If you're sensing evil, even if only once, that should be warning enough.

Protect us from drug and alcohol abuse, impurity and immorality, objectionable companions, and negative attitudes. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

I believe in these situations. One should ask their guardian angel to get involved, too; your guardian angel will protect you from harm, but also can help in maintaining peace and order. At times your angel, through the counsel of the Holy Spirit, can provide direction. Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's Love commits thee here, ever this day be at my side to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen!
Sorry, Julia, if this comes across as nit picking but I don't think it's a good idea to speak to it directly, especially asking it questions. Best to pray for it if you think it's a poor soul needing prayers or ask Our Lady or St Michael to bind it through the power of Jesus and take it to the foot of the Cross if you think it's something evil. And, of course, use the holy water and blessed salt. Contact a priest if it persists. I think that you and I are in the same age group so I'm surprised that the Nuns didn't tell you that ghosts can be poor souls needing prayers. I have a vague memory of something about unpaid debts, so maybe a donation to charity on their behalf might do no harm.
