April 10, 2015 God's Loving Messages... God the Father ...I wait and long for your Love. I thirst for your attention. I call to you always, waiting for each of you to come to Me. I wait until there is no more and you succumb to darkness. My Judgements are righteous. When you do not know My Belovéd Son, the Christ, how shall your Lord God recognize you on your last day, on your last breath? If you have rejected My Love and do not seek My Mercy, and you do not turn to the Light of My Son, surely you turn to darkness. ... + + + I need your help! My nephew is 22 years old this week, both his parents brought up Catholic, both professionals in the same field, liberals. They have not raised him in the Faith or any religion. He has never been baptized! A couple of years ago, I sent him at school, a book on Mary. Very touchy, he never mentioned receiving it when I would see him after which is understandable. Can you suggest a book that might really touch him? With so little spiritual help in his life, maybe, one about Our Lord now. I thought of the Precious Blood's Daily Bread or the Imitation of Christ. Maybe, something written by Pope Benedict XVI about Our Lord. He is graduating from college in three weeks. His name is Ryan. I want to hand him a book this time. Thank you from my heart for your recommendation. Ryan's only sister is in the same situation. Please offer a prayer for them both. I love you all.
This is my favourite book [on the life of Christ]. Bringing the Gospels to life.... http://www.amazon.com/Public-Life-J...=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1429264337&sr=1-6
My mother always had a copy of that book. She once told me it was one of the first signs for her ,that all was not well in the church. After asking a couple of Dominican nuns what they thought of the book, they told her it was a load of rubbish.
I would go for a book on the life of a saint. I gave my daughter a book on the life of Edith Stein some years ago and it made a big impression. Saints of the modern era are more accessible to us. I can't think of a male equivalent at the minute. The lovely thing about Edith is that she was a fearless searcher for the truth which led her from her Jewish faith to declare herself an atheist at 14 and her continued search until she found when she read a book on Theresa of Avila when she was in her 20's.
It's a pity that those poor nuns overlooked the first page of the book, before spewing their own rubbish. View attachment 2846 Jp II ????
You all are very dear. I went to dinner with my siblings this last weekend, my older brother was in town. My nephew's parents were there, I am reminded again. My nephew sent along a photo text of himself, out Saturday night, he and his date, dressed up for a formal dance they were going to attend. He looked so handsome except he hasn't been baptized! I can't even ask him, do you pray Ryan? Never have! Thank you for your advise and posting your favorite. Christ, The Life of the Soul, I've never heard of...curious.
Really maryrose, a young person today, college age, you can't assume would have a devotion as all of us here do to the words of Christ. I can't think of a male equivalent either, who was dramatically converted like Edith Stein. She was changed so quickly plus respected for her intellect.
