Subject: A very powerful bright light......

    Question: Hi:

About 40 years ago when I was a little girl....say 7 or 8 years old I had an experience at Christmas time that I will never forget.

I was sleeping, it was the middle of the night, from my bedroom there was a blazing bright light coming from my family's living room where the Christmas tree was....now keep in mind my mother always turned off the Christmas tree lights before we went to bed. Anyway, I started to walk toward the living room down the hall from my bedroom, as I was getting closer the light was getting more powerful and it was coming from the top of the Christmas tree where our star was set upon.

From the kitchen looking into the living room I was staring at the top of the tree and was blinded by the light, I started to move into the living room and clearly I remember being forced down to the floor (a great force pulled me down to my knees).

As a young child I became frightened, I ran back to my bedroom. I asked my family the next morning if they saw or heard anything and they told me no. Now I was sick with the flu, but I was not dreaming at all or hallucinating.....this was REAL.

    What exactly does this mean??

Thank you, and God Bless you.

    Donna

    Answer: Hi Donna,

The fact that you have remembered this phenomena down the years points out the fact that you had a very real Spiritual Experience.

I would say two factors came into play here. The fact that you were a child. Jesus said that unless we become as little children we shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and feel children are often more open to such things than adults. However since our parents, teachers and others teach us to disregard such things as we get older we tend to go blind to them.

Another factor is the astonishing graces that fall on the world during the Christmas season. It is as though heaven and Earth dance at the Birth of the Christ child.

I believe you saw a little of this rejoicing.

    Luke 2:8-20

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
