Thoughts? I would be in favor of this. One way in which it could be done would be as follows: the Priest, and the Priest Alone, would dip the Holy Body in the Precious Blood, and place it on the Tongue of the Kneeling Faithful. An Immediate Advantage that would follow, especially in the current Covidian Craze, is the End of Holy Communion in the Hand! The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ cannot be distributed in the Hand! It is the Solution here imho! Thoughts?
That is called intinction. I was always taught that there was no need for intinction since both the Body and Blood of Our Lord are present in the consecrated Host.
I grew up in a liberal parish, but the pastor practiced distributing the Holy Eucharist using this practice, intinction. I agree. It a superior method in which to distribute Holy Communion.
It has its drawbacks, too, though. I don't think of it as a panacea. I can't drink wine and I am not alone. Please don't suggest that it's only a little bit. I think that intinction was disallowed because of drawbacks. To me, it almost sounds manipulative to look for ways to get around communion in the hand, even though I deplore communion in the hand. It's really a matter for the Bishops. And we know how that goes.
I think it should be dipped in the precious blood by a priest and given out at an alter rail. I'm also for reforming baptisms in the West to full submersion. But keeping excorcism ritual with salt from pre Vatican 2.
According to Sister Lucia's revelation in 1944, in the future there will be only one Apostolic Catholic Church, I believe that this practice may be reintroduced in our parishes after the reunification of the Churches.
