Very odd encounter, today, and am wondering....

...I'll begin by once again stating that I try to rarely post, but do visit here daily, and pray for all those here, and intentions, there-of.
...Having felt a tremendous amount of anxiety in recent months, be it bills we can barely pay or inner stress, I've been not only overwhelmed and unable to find peace, but I've also wondered about the spiritual component in it all. To that end, unworthy servant that I am, I have stepped up prayers, novenas, and more. I call on The Lord, St Michael, St Joseph, St Gemma, Mary and more, literally dozens a time a day, and make use of Holy Water. I often wonder what is happening.
...Today, heading home from church, I pulled into a gas station. Not only did I do something I never do, I tripped on a step as I approached the door to pay, and but for my hands grabbing booth door handles would have dove head first through the glass into the store, but then something else happened. I got back to my car, pumped ten bucks in and, just as I was finishing, a car pulled up on the other side of the gas pumps next to me. I shook my head to myself because the music was blaring. As I put my gas cap on, the driver (average looking, 30 something guy with a tattoo on his neck, crew cut, baseball hat and squinty , sort of oddly intense eyes under little glasses ) got out and began hacking like he was hacking up a lung. 3 times he hacked like a madman, spitting after each hack. He was doing this by the front driver's side of his car, but sort of facing towards me and my car. I walked around the back of my car, like I always do, to my car door and, as I started to get in, he sort of yells over and says, "Man, I don't know where this hacking comes from! Every time I get near some maggot infested something or other (I forget the exact word he used), I do it!" I stopped at the halfway point of getting in, looked over the roof of my car towards him and just kind of muttered, "ooo...kaaay....". I got in, and I heard him say something else, not as loud, but I couldn't make it out. I started my car , pulled out and drove around to the exit. I could tell a car had pulled up behind me, but I kept watching traffic. When it was clear, I pulled out and went left, and could tell the car behind me was pulling out to go right....and as he did, it was that car, and he blasted his horn a couple times. Now....he never got gas, which means he not only pulled into the gas station with several pumps...and into a spot to pump gas, just to get out and hack, but during the 30 seconds he was behind me when we were waiting to pull out on the main road, he didn't honk until after I pulled out, going the opposite direction of where he headed.
Sure, he was likely some nut high on something (I regret not getting his license, as I do that from time to time) or just nuts, who came from the casino down the road. And, I was never entirely certain who he was directing his comment of hacking whenever he's near a maggot infested something; someone or somewhere he just came from, or me). But the obnoxiously loud music, the hacking, the odd set of comments, the fact that he didnt just pull over into the lot, but pulled into a spot for pumping gas...next to me (on the other side of the 4 pumps), and then the honking long and loud only after I went the other way. It all just seems very odd to me, given everything I mentioned about stepping up my spiritual game lately.
I should add, in addition to the above, weeks ago I read an article by a priest who is also an exorcist, and emailed him to compliment him on it. Additionally, in reading that "and the Word became Flesh" is extremely powerful in that it gets rid of evil, I say it to myself, lately. Overly long story short, between my almost overwhelming anxiety and weird stuff like this, I just wonder if something more is going on here that I realize. Maybe not. It may just be the stuff of life. Times like this I wish I could visit with a guy like Padre Pio, or someone with supernatural gifts and who could assess the situation.
As an aside, in regards to the democrats in Congress almost getting legislation passed that would make abortion legal even up to birth, the Ukraine/Russia thing and Fatima/Garabandal, I again pray that The Lord comes soon, in whatever fashion He deems. I pray it's not years away.

(as a follow up to my Padre Pio comment, "are" there any church approved mystics today? Any in the U.S.?)

 

My husband is sometimes accosted in a hostile manner by other men, but so far it's not gotten worse.

Then again, in our area, peoples' Good Angels have unexpectedly (imo) continually shown themselves over the past five years. This was previously an unfriendly place filled with antagonism and provocation.

I was definitely surprised (AND RELIEVED) when their Good Angels shone forth.

Will pray it's so in your area(s) too.

 

I would say yes John IMHO. This sounds strictly spiritual. What is in them is reacting to what is in you(the Holy Spirit). The veil is thin these days and those who at one time were somewhat protected by the grace that was then in the world are now vulnerable and things attach. Solzinihtzyn spoke of this in the gulag. Evil in others manifested against goodness. And the good could always recognize those who had taken an evil path.(The Soul and Barbed Wire) I would sure call the Blood of Jesus over yourself and ask the Light of Christ to cover that man/men that they might see themselves as the Eternal Father sees them.

 

Mark this sounds bizarre in the extreme. I am so sorry you had this happen. A strange evil disruption in your life...may St Michael and all warrior angels protect you!

 

Yes, it is exactly a spiritual attack. UGH. A couple of times I have experienced something similar. It's a compliment. That's what Padraig calls it when these things happen to us.

You should start carrying a cacramental in your pocket. Ie: St.Benedict cross, miraculous medal etc.

…I carry my scapular with me, and need to start wearing my St Jude and mary medals, again ( the chain broke, and I’ve been hesitant to wear them until I can het a chain that won’t break

 

There was a similar occurrence in Syracuse, NY, today, at the start of 40 Days for Life. There were about 15 of us in front of Planned Parenthood (one of the original ones: opened 1973). This was an organizational meeting prepping for the weeks ahead. Almost all present were Catholics (including a wonderful priest, Fr. John Mano), but there were 4 Baptists, and interestingly 2 priests from a Traditionalist Movement within the Anglican Church! Many not present have signed up for weekly slots! There were testimonies of babies saved from the past, instructions on what to do if police give us a hard time, and a few "what not to do" suggestions. In the midst of this a passerby unleashed a stream of profanities at us and a person driving by yelled, F--- y--! We weren't noisy or disruptive at all, but there are those who are goaded on by their hate of anything to do with God! JoeJerk despises us!

These are days of true spiritual battle!

Thank you for sharing this, Mark and all. I have also experienced something inexplicable in my own home. It was a Sunday a few weeks ago, my 12 year old son asked if we could watch a Jesus show on television, he chose the Gospel of Saint John movie which is very powerful. If you have seen this movie, basically a narrator (Christopher Plummer (RIP)) narrates the entire Gospel of Saint John as actors act out the scenes and have speaking parts during the movie. During the time when Plummer was narrating the prologue to the Gospel of Saint John, our dog started barking uncontrollably and even though no one was touching the t.v. controller, I watched as the volume went down on the television. No one was touching any remote controller or volume button on the device. I remember Msgr. Rosetti, an exorcist that has a blog writing that demons hate the prologue to the Gospel of Saint John. I was flabbergasted that this happened in my home. I sprinkled our home with holy water and blessed salt. Must not let ourselves get intimidated by these episodes, but like you have all suggested, pray away the darkness.

Yes Mark a spiritual attack for sure. Keep Holy water on you, in car, and a blessed Miraculous Medal on your person, and remember Jesus said, 'If they hated me, they will hate you." John, 15:18

Indeed, I may start carrying holy water with me…by the gallon, and attached to a big hose!
