A friend after confessions was approached by the priest and advised he needed prayer for some issues disclosed in confession. I’m wondering is the priest stepping outside of his role of confession being confidential or is this allowed? Something about it doesn’t sit well with me.
Was the priest asking for prayer for someone else? Its a little unusual. But he didn't disclose anything about the penitent so perhaps he was just seeking extra intercession?
No, he approached the penitent saying he the penitent needed prayer for some issues disclosed in confession.

I think it would be unsettling for most people. It would be for me at least. The last thing you would want to do is to make people feel unsettled, it can sometimes take courage to go to Confession in the first place. If it happened to me I would not be returning the Father in question. I would assume the priest meant well. Nevertheless. I have never heard of such things happening before. Great confessional saints like Padre Pio , the Cure of Ars and Father Leopold Mandic provide some extraordinary accounts of miraculous goings on both inside and outside the confessional, but I never ever heard of them doing anything like this... ..but I assume the Father meant well.. he was just maybe being indiscreet.
