Jesus told a story that is very much along these lines:

    Luke 16:19-31

    The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

I would guess that when the Illumination comes they will use some psychological term to dismiss it, something like Mass Hallucination of Mass Psychosis, some big sensible sounding word to brush it under the carpet.

But in their hearts I suppose they will still know. At the moment many poor people claim men can be women and have babies and periods. So I suppose if they could believe that they could believe anything. Poor, poor mad people. So many of them too.

Many of them insane as they are in Government and telling the rest of us all what to do.

    Conscience, yes?

We must come to Know our spiritual faults in order to - with God's assistance - rid ourselves of them... of Sin!

It is akin to diving into a very open and honest and full - Examination of Conscience - with God's assistance.

There very well can be parts of our behaviors in our lives which we shy from wanting to admit... ....

And Yet? And So> ... We have to see them, acknowledge them, express Sorrow for them, do Penance where we can - and thus Lighten our Load!

When we want to be shown our shortcomings.. our withered branches to be prune? Pray/Ask God - the Divine Physician - for His Loving assistance

In my belief - In this (ongoing) manner -

It's akin to a form of Purgatory (Purging of Sins for the necessary Forgivenesses - especially too any ongoing habitual Sins which we might somehow always 'brush off' like never really admitting never thinking of) while we're still ALIVE

It can be a bit tough .. to a degree - but never over the top --- AND It's Liberating!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls - JESUS

They won't believe because they don't want to.. It's a matter of wills. To live in God's will or our will. We can see the fruits of this thinking today. Look at Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. Look at Father James Martin. Hypocrites to the max. Do you think they will believe the warning or believe it is some new technological weapon of mass hallucination? It's diabolical disorientation. However, today is the Feast Day of St.Mary Magdalene, she gives us hope. Her demons were cast out. Perhaps the warning will cast out demons, too. We can have our lamps ready and help those who have no clue what the warning is all about. It will be a great revival for believers.

Once "science" says something along the lines of this was a massive global hallucination caused by the sun, or whatever other cosmic event/excuse, and you can't question science, a great many will go along with this narrative. At this point is when I believe, we could see massive persecution against Catholics/Christians and whoever converted. This could lead to the period when the church goes underground. Now since we know the miracle comes shortly after the warning, I would think that the persecution will come after the miracle but the narrative will have started. To me, I don't see any way the world avoids the chastisement. That will come after the great persecution of believers. But believers will not fear. The warning will make the faith of the believers as strong as the faith of the apostles and so many early Christians. So many did not fear persecution because their love and belief was so strong. Ours will too following such a wonderful gift of mercy and graces from God to come to all who believe and love!

Yes, it will be a matter of wills. But each individual will realize the truth of what is shown them because it will be "the story of their own lives". They will know its true, even if they publicly renounce it. What a hardening of hearts will take place for those who reject this grace for the sake of maintaining the status quo!

    Lord have Mercy!

It might well be that the rejection of this Final Grace is the Sin against the Holy Spirit? The sin that cannot be forgiven? So that those who do so become Demons incarnate. In a real sense they are already in Hell.

"All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men" (Matthew 12:31).

I think those in power are already prepared for their explanation of the warning when it occurs. They will say its to do with climate change or aliens or gas being released any sort of rubbish they can think off and the people will believe them because when u don't
Have the faith to stand for you will fall for anything

As far as I recall St Alphonsus Ligouri who is a Doctor of the Church and it's Master in the Teaching of Moral Theology warned that souls should be careful that they will not run out of rope. In other words says you are committing the same sin over and over again. Say for instance, a crazy example, you are a bank robber. Say you rob a bank and go to confession . OK you are forgiven. But say you are addicted to bank robbing for the thrills and keep going doing them and going to confession. St Alphonsus says you may very well reach a point when God gets fed up with it all and closes down the shutters and sends you straight to hell and never mind the revolving door of Mercy.

I suspect this would be particularly true of sexual sins.

Anyway it occurs to me that the Illumination be such a pull down the shutters moment. When the Good Lord says, 'I've had it. This is it. I've done all I can. Time to call time'.

    1. St. Basil, St. Jerome, St. John Chrysostom, St. Augustine, and other fathers, teach that, as
God (according to the words of Scripture, ”Thou hast ordered all things in measure, and
number, and weight”(Wis. xi. 21), has fixed for each person the number of the days of his life,
and the degrees of health and talent which he will give him, so he has also determined for
each the number of sins which he will pardon; and when this number is completed, he will
pardon no more. ”Illud sentire nos convenit," says St. Augustine, ”tamdiu unumquemque a
Dei patientia sustineri, quo consummate nullam illi veniam reserveri." (De Vita Christi, cap.
iii.) Eusebius of Cesarea says: ”Deus expectat usque ad certum numerum et postea deserit."
(Lib. 8, cap. ii.) The same doctrine is taught by the above- mentioned fathers.

For those who are - or have been - repetitive sinners...
it is a sure sign that we have not as yet removed SIN from our Soul.
It requires a very honest and open evaluation of one's Self..
It's doable and it's far Better to be done of sin this side of our deaths..

I am probably the most addictive and repetitive sinner of all time.:)

Over and over and over again , my entire life.

Jesus told St Faustina that before we enter the door of Justice we must enter the Door of Mercy.

It seems to me this can be seen as the Illumination then the Three Days of Darkness.

    First Mercy.

    Then Justice.

    The Illumination.

    Then.

    The Three Days of Darkness.
