I read some saint's saying on the topic of having a mass offered a person -by himself- for the sake of his soul, while still alive. Is it the correct procedure to just write it in the paper and put it in the box? (my parish has a box and a basket with small papers and a pen). I wrote my name and "for increase in virtue"
I did it the other day, but now im not sure if I did it correctly ,or if for this sort of intention I need to personally ask the priest before he celebrates.

At least at the parishes I've been in, to have a Mass offered, it's best to call or email the office and request a Mass. Then bring in a stipend for the priest who is offering your Mass. But perhaps your parish does it differently?

There is a box for donation\stipend! I did put a donation it. however the box is far away from the petitions box. maybe its just an issue of the parish's organization of space
:rolleyes:I will check with the parish administration, just in case.
