Please, please pray for State of Minnesota! (I live in MN) As you may have heard in the news that a white police officer did his senseless police brutality and murder of a black male person, George Floyd. Officer ignored the man's pleas of cannot breathe while officer's knees was on top of this man's neck and back. Now, there's rioting and looting happening in Minneapolis and it's spreading outward to surrounding suburban cities. (I think there may be more in other nationwide cities, too). Many stores and businesses are closing and shutting down due to widespread riots, looting, fires, vandalism and assaults on police officers. They have also sent in the National Guards. The 4 police officers involved have been fired but not charged yet...pending. This is getting scary already! Some shopping malls and stores not far from me are closing their doors early today already now or will soon. "O, Queen of Peace and of Holy Rosary, pray for us!! Catherine, my husband and I were just talking about this. It is indeed sad and scary. I was 20 years old when the riots broke out in DC and Baltimore nearby. I will pray the rosary tonight for you to be protected and for the rioting to cease. Please keep us posted.
I saw this on facebook. The revenge which undoubtedly will rage in retaliation for this stupid law enforcement officer and his panic in the face of making an arrest will cost other lives. Why do those law enforcement officers never learn. Ironic when you remember Jesus was tortured and killed by law enforcement officers in His day. Jesus was able to say "Forgive them Father, they know not what they do." But it will be an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth in this God forsaken world. And a society which has kept black and white ignorant of the law of Christian civilisation, is bearing the brunt of tribalism. God preserve us all, and give those involved the grace to step back and ask will retaliation solve anything. The answer is violence begets violence. But who is listening.
It is not so much Minnesota that needs prayer, but the city of Minneapolis, which has invited much evil into its midst. Arguably, the city is either #1 or #2 in the US leading in homosexual population now. It does not represent the greater state of Minnesota, but the radical left. The city has invited the devil into it, as anyone can see what they allow the thugs to do with looting and burning its businesses down with no accountability, no arrests. It is led by some of the most socialist/godless politicians in America.
I was born and raised in Minneapolis. I live in a suburb. 4 of my closest friends grew up within 6 blocks of the center of the riots. I have dozens of friends and relatives in Minneapolis. Minneapolis us no worse than other large cities. There are countless godly people who live there. There are many fine Catholic churches and Catholic schools in Minneapolis. They do not deserve this anymore than any of us. Indeed the Archbishop of St Paul Mpls. is the courageous bishop who took on the governor (who is not from Mpls) to open the churches. The violence has begun in other areas outside of Mpls...Rosedale, Edina, StPaul etc. Many of the protesters and thugs are from outside the State. Prayers are needed for all of Minnesota.
I will pray, also. It sounds like it will be a long night, again. I was disappointed the mayor/other officials did not make a stronger statement, about the need for people to calm down and stay home (I have a sister-in-law there). The reality that anger and hatred seem to rule the day. Dear Lord how much longer, before people "see" your sadness that they have chosen to walk away from you? Funny I was thinking about Minnesota several times today. It was on the news just recently when the Catholic Bishops rightly insisted on reopening Churches there. I suspect that all the bad things are happening in Minnesota are happening because of all of the very, very good things that happening there. ..and that the bad people that are coming to the fore there are doing so at the urging of the devil because of all the very,very good people there. It is a compliment to the State really.
Unfortunately it already has.....CA, OH, and now in Louisville, KY (where I grew up) w/ 7 people being shot...apparently by each other, no police guns drawn, w/ one in critical condition. And this is what the President meant when he tweeted that "when the looting starts the shooting starts" which Twitter blocked and re-interpreted to mean that Trump was glorifying violence when he was attempting to warn the public and emphasize that those in charge must do something to stop such shooting.
I was watching the local coverage here in Minnesota of the burning of the police precinct yesterday as it happened. They had an arson expert comentating. He said the way the fire was lit, the way they went about it showed it was a seasoned arsonist. A car also drove by with a woman yelling "Shoot the White Folks". Make no mistake these are no longer just protests. There are anarchists involved. Many from outside the state. Of course we all know who is really at the root of both the despicable actions of the cop and now the chaos and destruction enveloping Minnesota and other places. It is important to realize God only permits suffering to bring about a greater good. He is ultimately in charge and will bring about a renewal that will dwarf the termoil we are now, and will be enduring. Jesus I trust in you!
