Hi, everyone. This is Geralyn. Terry says that you will know who I am. Lee, Terry says he is sorry that he can't join you dancing in the kitchen. :( He fell on the sidewalk outside of church this morning and broke his right hip right at the femoral head. They did emergency surgery and put 3 screws in to hold the bone together. Please pray that the femoral head will have an adequate blood supply and the the recovery and rehab. will go smoothly. It will be a little more challenging since he has cerebral palsy on the right side. Oh, you can also pray that the lake effect band will stay north of us. I actually have to have a neighbor use his CAT to try to dig out the front door of our house. There are many cubic yards of snow blocking it. And that is the door with the fewest steps for Terry.

    Hi Geralyn,

I am so sorry to hear about Terry. The more I read his posts the more I admired him. I think his last post was about him talking to your children on the telephone and he sounded so happy!! He also posted a picture of your house in the snow which looked so scenic but now I realise can be a great problem.

I'll pray hard for Terry this week and for the weather to get a lot better out there. I am sure there are few people better qualified to carry a big cross than you both, but I'll ask the Lord to help you as much as he can.

Please tell Terry I'll be praying specially to Our Lady for him and for you too Geralyn, this can't be easy on you, , I admire his faith so much and yours.

    God bless

    Hi Geralyn:

I'm sorry to hear about Mario's accident. He's a blessing to this board and I will certainly pray for him as he has prayed for me many times. He speaks so fondly of you, so having you at his side will surely help ease his burdens.

Keep us updated on his condition, and if you're up to it, consider joining this forum under your own ID.

    Peace!

Geralyn, I took the liberty to employ some other intercessors on Terry's behalf. His absence will be felt severely so we'll need a swift and complete recovery.

Geralyn, please see if you can pass on to Terry the Jan. 25th message from Medjugorje. He's always so interested in what she has to say.

    Much Thanks!

All of your prayers are much appreciated and obviously very efficacious. Here is the scoop. I was carrying my CCD materials into Church on Sunday to prepare for teaching my 5th grade class when the bag broke and dumped onto the road. It was a little messy and when I gathered everything up into my arms my vision was obstructed. Add in some ice and the fact that I was careless enough to wear my dress shoes (zero traction) and Walah: a perfect recipe for a broken hip. If one remembers the PEANUTS comic strip with Lucy pulling the football away just as Charlie Brown is about to kick it, then you can visualise my crash very accurately! :D

And so it was that Geralyn drove me into St. Joseph's Hospital to get it x-rayed. It was broken, but because I had arrived so quickly, they were able to grab the resident hip expert and do an emergency operation. That was crucial, for if it had been only an hour later, instead of three screws, a hip replacement would have been necessary. Besides, they did a spinal tap rather than general anesthesia. That was beneficial on two counts: I was much more clear-headed after the operation and I could also hear the whir of the screws as they went into my bone.

Yesterday, I was able to get up twice to begin rehab and after managing a few stairs today, they sent me home. St. Joe's is a special Catholic hospital; I was visited by the chaplains and able to receive Our Precious Lord both days! To boot, my roommate for the time I was there happened to be a fellow traveler to Medjugorge. We had a grand time sharing our love for Mary! If you could pray for Frank, I would appreciate it. He was to have his gall bladder removed today, but there were some sticky complications involved. Finally, I enjoyed encouraging a soon-to-be-married student nurse on the joys of a Christian marriage!

Anyway, I am now home and will have wonderful opportunities for more prayer. One might say I'm the Principal of Tinker Tavern Road Academy; now, for four weeks I'll be demoted to substitute teacher of my homeschooled children. Life couldn't be better!!

As one of my friends said yesterday, Now that Terry has three screws in his hip, he's screwier than ever!

May my speedy recovery continue. Thanks so much for your prayers!

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

It's good to have you back online. What a great attitude you have . . . they say that's important for a speedy recovery. You made me cringe with the "whir of the screws" story. Heebie Jeebie! Shiver, shiver! Thanks for that . . . LOL. Happy healing and invest in some metal ice cleat thingies!

Terry, what wonderful news! Prayers are being answered...how's your head? I understand spinal taps can give a vigorous headache.
Stay in touch, it's so good to hear from you.

I love the way you are just so positive about all this, Terry.

A praying heart is always positive......

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Terry enjoy the light that shines through your cross as Jesus spends some extra time with you during your recovery. I pray for a full recovery and better equip shoes for you, lol.

    A step forward.

Just wanted everyone to know I put away the walker and am walking with no assistance. It doesn't mean I'm running around the block, yet, or playing football, but I'm happy. I'm also able to drive the car, so long-distance mobility has been reclaimed. Believe me, I'm no saint and I was getting a little antsy. Through it all, Geralyn and the kids have been so loving and patient. I repaid my children by blowing them away in a game of Monopoly this past Friday! Dear 'ol Dad can be merciless when he puts his mind to it! :D

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
