Church Militant / The Vortex calls for prayers for dying abortionist

This is one of those situations where I know how I should feel versus how I do feel. Michael Voris from Church Militant / The Vortex has posted a video calling on all Catholics to pray for a notorious and long-term abortionist who has been performing late-term abortions for decades. The guy is still alive but is in hospice care and doesn't have much time left in this world. Could this be an opportunity? If, as a result of worldwide prayer, he underwent a deathbed conversion, would graces flow beyond his personal redemption?

I've read stories from the lives of the Saints wherein they share experiences when they tried to pray for the repose of the soul of a specific person but felt a great resistance; they concluded that Heaven was letting them know that the soul in question was damned and that prayer for that soul was pointless. But this abortionist is still alive - and where there's life, there's hope. But geez, this guy proudly and notoriously performed over 30,000 abortions.

God, please give us guidance.

I'm scared to get involved with such a person. Maybe a prayer to the precious blood and cover ourselves in the protection of the precious blood

 

I think you offer the prayers to Our Lady and let her decide how to use them. Tell her your intention and then pray--knowing that she knows what needs to be done. The prayer is never wasted. She will see that all graces get to the right people.

 

Yes. Wise words. There could well be nasty backlash if this soul is "bought and paid for" but Jesus died for him. The Precious Blood poured out for that very soul. Its hard to think that such a terrible life could be redeemed but Jesus wants no soul to perish.. As I said above give the prayers to Our Lady with your intention and let her go to work.

 

That's a great idea. "Blessed Virgin, if it be the will of you and your Beloved Son, please accept this petition and prayer for {insert name here}. If it be not your will I lovingly accept and defer to your judgement; please accept my offering on behalf of whosoever you will it" etc.

St.Therese prayed for a great criminal that he might repent before death. She did this to find out if God wanted prayer to be offered for the most horrible people. The convict was a repulsive man that everyone wanted put to death. Therese was desirous to know the power and goodness of prayer in the darkest of circumstances. When the man was dead she looked for a newspaper to find out the details of his execution. She read in the paper that at the last moment the atheist cried and grabbed the crucifix and repented of his sins. This proved to St.Therese that every soul has worth to God and prayer is such a powerful force given to us to save souls. So simple, so easy to do. To sacrifice one’s time to pray for another soul. Be not afraid to pray …

I think the soul of this man will be like a drop of water in The Ocean of Mercy which opened up for the whole world, as in the Divine Mercy prayer.

However, on Divine Mercy Sunday after praying the 9 days Novena, I watched a bit of a youtube video which proclaimed that the Divine Mercy Devotion is false. I stopped watching it but it really deflated my spiritual Hope. I have been troubled since. This is part of the raging battle that is taking place for me.

Because I seek after the Truth, I try to go into these places but sometimes I seem defeated.

I have wanted to say the Auxilium Christianorum prayers. I understand that one should ask or inform one's spiritual confessor or advisor, and be in a state of grace before beginning this apostolate. So far I have not started Auxilium Christianorum because I am afraid of diabolical retaliation. I am in an intense enough battle as it is.

Neither have I found a spiritual counsellor I can talk to. It seems that any priest I talk to is on a different planet to me. I am wondering if Bishop Williamson and SSPX Resistance might be worth investigating. It also seems to me that I have special challenges due to having been a skeptical scientist for most of my life. That is why I have a very open mind now. But I am consecrated to the Truth in Jesus and through Mary.

In my search for the Truth, I will if necessary believe in a flat earth, 6 and a half thousand year old earth, creationist view. However, at the moment I do not believe in these things. But I am open to them if my God-given reason can be convinced. I am troubled by the Neo-Darwinian model of evolution of humans which the Vatican believes in. But that is all my scientifically trained mind knows how to process at the moment. I am resigned to the notion that I will never be able to figure things out, so it is best to devote myself to faithful prayer, to implore for the grace to discern God's Holy Wiĺl and to do it, and that I be granted final perseverance.

Prayers for the soul of that obortionist. Lord Jesus Christ, son of the Living God have mercy on him.

 

I do not have a scientific mind. I always had to grind through those courses and pray to do all right. The courses on language and literature and history were my Forte. But I do understand what you are saying. I saw those posts on Divine Mercy. I totally reject them. JPII proclaimed it and made it a Feast Day. "He who hears you hears Me." Jesus tells us a validly elected Pope speaks for Him. Also the priests of Divine Mercy are so authentic. I have just decided not to overthink it. I have learned to be simple. Well at least I am trying. The origin of mankind rests in God. No matter how He chose to create us. Evolution was in my opinion an outgrowth of enlightenment philosophy. And even though it has been called into serious question many so called "rational" educated elites refuse to let it go because then they would have to accept that God created us. Gasp! I believe the Bible's version. Period. Jesus referred to Adam and Eve and Noah and Jonah. That is a proof if ever there was. Thats how I approach it anyway. I love praying for the greatest sinners and the souls deepest in Purgatory. We can hope for the Salvation of even the very greatest sinners. But sometimes it is very difficult indeed. Some sins are in a place apart from any other.

I am reading a book at the minute called 'An Exorcist on the Demonic'. The exorcists there say that it is very,very,very difficult indeed for a Satanic Wizard to be saved (someone who works Black Magic); it may happen but it is incredible rare.

Still until they land up in hell there is hope for everyone.

They tell the story of a Wizard who was dying in hospital in very great agony. However his life was preserved until a Catholic Exorcist Priest happened to visit the hospital, give him the Last Rites; he may well have been saved, although I expect him to be in the very,very deepest fires of Purgatory.

 

Our Lord Jesus promised Sr. Faustina that His mercy can save even the greatest sinner:

"I perform works of mercy in every soul. The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy. My mercy is confirmed in every work of My hands... " (Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 723).

Do not be afraid or disheartened by naysayers. Divine Mercy is REAL. Divine Mercy is available for you and for me and for everyone, even the naysayers. All we need to do is ask with the simplest prayer. Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. Jesus, have mercy on the naysayers who are sinners also.

When Church Militant asked us to pray for the dying abortionist, I said this simple prayer.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners, spread the effect of grace of thy Flame of Love over all of humanity, especially this dying abortionist now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I have no fear or regret, Heavenly mother will take it to Jesus, and He takes care of everything. If by the grace of God this soul is saved after our petitions on his behalf, all Heaven will rejoice at another soul saved from the pit of hell. Jesus I trust in Thee.

 

Lets pray for him. God will be sure there is justice for those he killed, but we just heard the reading in Acts at Friday's Mass about Paul murdering Christians and his conversion. As Jesus said, pray for your enemies and bless those who hate you. If he continues in his evil it will pour burning coals upon his head and if he converts God will will use him somehow for the Kingdom...

 

You are right. There is MUCH evidence against evolution, but they stick with it because they don’t want to accept God. My biology professors admitted as much to me in college.

I prayed for the abortionist quite hard and hope he had the chance to repent before it was too late.

I am married to a science person and as a result have taken more interest in subjects like astronomy than I did in my single years. Scientists tell us the universe is over 13 billion years old. The wonder of the heavens causes me to praise God even more. I love Psalm 8 which blends the awesomeness of the stars with God’s love and care for man. My husband attended college lectures by John Polkinghorne who went on to become an Anglican vicar and wrote books about science and faith.

Prehistory interests me. There is so much we don’t know. One of my daughters gave me a book on Neanderthals for Mothers Day. They were undoubtedly different to us modern humans but genetically similar enough to interbreed with us. A DNA test will reveal that pretty much all of us have some Neanderthal DNA. It got me to wonder if our Neanderthal cousins had souls as we do. I think they must have. We do not know what Adam looked like; ‘Adam’ means ‘man’. A recent discovery deep in a French cave reveals what looks like a Neanderthal ritual space. They were not the brute beasts that people have thought.

Although he does not have a deep personal faith, my husband recently took a Masters course in science and religion. I think the hound of heaven will get him yet. He gets annoyed with the casual atheism of magazines like New Scientist which he says is an ignorant knee jerk attitude that isn’t very scientific.

As an aside, I receive the emails from the Vatican Observatory which are wonderfully written by a Jesuit laybrother.

 

I wonder the same struggle of prayer for evil people, regarding Garavito (serial killer who killed 300+ kids in colombia and ecuador). he has 2 types of cancer, and lost a whole eyeball to cancer recently. He was supposedly going to get released in few years due a to loophole, but he's almost dead now.
worst person alive! I should trust the colombian priests to decide what to say when he dies.

Always remember that whatever is the Truth, it will turn out to be more rational and logical than whatever we conceive. Regarding Creationism, I'd recommend reading Chateaubriand's theory (in his 'The Genius of Christianity') that the world could have been created much as a novel, containing beings and objects seeming from long ago and each suggesting their own story. One does not necessarily consider the childhood of an adult character in a novel, if he comes into the story fully-formed. Chateaubriand suggested that the world might have been created with built-in fossils and apparent evidence of great antiquity, much as a novel is written complete with its own suggested past. We cannot conceive of the workings of the Mind of God. It is certainly more plausible than the Flintstones running around with dinosaurs a few thousand years ago.
