Hi Everyone, My Golden Retriever Raleigh got a neck injury from playing with my other dog a few weeks ago, called vet, and was muddling along ok on a daily aspirin but obviously hurting a little. Last Monday I took him to the vet and he was put on both Rimadyl and Tramadol and immediately seemed to go down hill. I thought maybe the Tramadol was just making him sleepy but now he hasn't eaten since Thursday and can barely walk. I'm going to call the vet today but I'm afraid it's the meds and stopped giving them as of last night. I've been giving water in a syringe and using a heating pad on him but he is really bad. He's 8 years old but is acting like a 14 year old about to die....

Praying that Raleigh rebounds. Our 14 year old dog had a bout like that last summer then rebounded. Sometimes the meds make it worse.

Praying for poor Raleigh. To St Martin De Porres.

Great name for a dog! :)

The only problem with Labradors is you grow to love them so much.

I talked to his Retired vet {who is my friend that raises Newfoundlands} this morning. He had me check his gums and temp and I sent him a video of Raleigh trying to get up. He believes it is the meds, to stop them as he is not screaming or moaning with pain, and give him some syringes of broth also continue with water to help with hydration and electrolytes. He says Monday the meds should be sufficiently out of his system to see improvement.

I'll pray to St Rock after Mass at my church this morning. He certainly helped my little dog.
When Percy would not eat I gave him chicken and rice and that got him eating again

Thank you all! He's still alive this morning so I'm not losing hope! But his mobility is almost nothing now just getting worse every hour. He can take a few steps but falls sideways against the wall. He did eat some chicken and pieces of beef yesterday all of a sudden looked up when I was in refridg. But has been refusing everything since or before. I'm giving him water and broth in a syringe which he hates. His vitals are still good.

Have you tried praying for healing or deliverance over your dog? Use a bit of holy oil or blessed water if you have some. As his owner, you have that right over him, maybe there is something oppressive going on that needs a command prayer in the name of Jesus. Today is the feast of St Joseph, may he come to help Raleigh!

Otherwise, I guess it's too late to try activated charcoal to clear out any poisons? It can be used as a poultice too over affected areas (admitedly challenging to do for our furry friends).

Hi Thank you! Yes have been blessing his head with holy water several times a day and praying for his healing while holding my hand on his head. I did ask Jesus to cast out any evil that may be affecting our household. I have a relic of the Shroud of Turin and True Cross I could bless him with if not a sacrilege..

I set my statue of St Joseph in front of him and prayed and he wagged his tail! I left the statue on the piano near him so he can look up at him today...

Retrievers are wonderful dogs. I pray he recovers. A friend of mine has a medal of St Francis on her cat's collar. Personally I don't think it's sacrelege to use Holy Water or even relics because dogs are a part of God's creation and the close bond with man is surely something God wills. I got my first dog at age 55 after hearing a locution 'get a dog' as i was at Adoration. It seemed to come from nowhere but instantly I knew I had to do this, and even what sort of dog it should be. We had her by the end of that week. So yes, God surely cares about our pets.
