I ask your prayers for best friends of Geralyn and myself: Sue and especially Tom Cunningham. Sue and I graduated from the same high school (Most Holy Rosary) 51 years ago. I can in all honesty say I know of no one more generous than they. They were married exactly one year before us. Five children, then subsequently adopted 3 children from Mexico. They're always reaching out to people in need. They went to daily Holy Mass yesterday and Tom passed out. They feared a stoke, but he was checked out at a local hospital; nothing wrong was pinpointed. Geralyn and I took dinner over to them last evening at their home and we chatted and laughed for three hours. Tom is about 75 years old. Well, Tom passed out again about 2 hours ago; Sue is with him at the ER. Ah Therese, pray and send a rose their way!
Great (Welsh) singer but interesting reason why it became a hit selling 1/2 million copies. In October 1956, Malcolm Vaughan was due to appear on BBC TV's Off The Record to promote his new release, "St. Therese Of The Roses". The invitation was withdrawn a few days later after a BBC committee had determined that the record was unsuitable for broadcast because "the lyric is contrary both to Roman Catholic doctrine and to Protestant sentiment." The resulting controversy helped to sell records, and with airplay on Radio Luxembourg the sugary wedding song climbed to No 3, stayed on the charts for five months and sold half a million copies.
Thank you all. Tom is having more extensive testing done since they can't figure out what's going on. At least we know covid isn't an issue since the Cunninghams refused the shot.
