Just as the devil targets celebrity priests, now he seems to be targeting celebrity Catholic lay people. We don’t need details. They just need our prayers “Michael Voris has been asked to resign for breaching the Church Militant morality clause. The board has accepted his resignation. “We understand this is a shock to you all, but our founder and former CEO is stepping aside and focusing on his personal health. “The Board of Directors has chosen not to disclose Michael's private matters to the public.”
So they are being sued? Sigh. Just. Not. Surprising. As you say the devil is pulling out all the stops.
There were real personal problems with Voris and Niles for many years. I’m surprised they lasted this long. (I was a moderator for their forum years ago when they had one.)
Yes. I just watched the announcement from Restoring the Faith. It sounds like Voris and Niles really came after this man and he took them to court and won.
Prayers. I stopped watching Church Militant years ago apart from when they posted purely Spiritual/Mystical stuff. There seem to be so many great dangers coupled with becoming famous. We have a whole list of people now who kind of bombed . Fulton Sheen was probably the most famous and successful of all. But even he went into deep, deep depression a really Dark Night when his TV shows did not air anymore and he was very,very holy indeed keeping up a wonderful prayer life which included an Hour in Front of the Blessed Sacrament. But I would guess it becomes intoxicating like a kind of drug. Billy Graham seems to have been the most bullet proof of all. A Great hero of mine. I think what saved him was a really intense humility; he and his wife both. Anyway prayers for all concerned. Deeply sad.
I would guess if any Catholic showed signs of becoming famous, or popular, or well thought of that they should flee from it as they would the devil, if they can ( of course in some cases of course I acknowledge fame is simply unavoidable). This is why for instance Padre Pio asked God at the start to make his stigmata invisible. But God decided, eventually, to raise him up before men by shining a light on his works. Marian visionaries hate being famous, It was always their biggest Cross. The Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph took a big, big, big back seat in the Gospel Story. The back seat is without doubt the best seat, the safest seat. Luke 6:26 Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
