[IMG] PRAYER FOR THE CONTROL OF THE TONGUE
Dear Holy Spirit, My God. Teach me to speak wisely.
Let me avoid useless thoughts and useless conversations. Help me to speak often for You. Grant that my words may never hurt men/women of goodwill. May My words always bring consolation to those in sorrow and guidance to those in need. Take my lips and make them Yours. Take possession of my mind and make it an instrument of Your goodness and a channel of truth. I hope to become a man/woman of silence, who prefers to talk to God then to men. In my human conversation, may I always bring them closer to You and You closer to them. I ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen
    Our Father. . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be

I am the worst in the world at this. There was a big huge row last week in the dept next door. Two of the men were shouting at each other at the top of their voices and one of the supervisors had to go in to calm things down.

The next morning one of the shouting men passed by and said something cheeky to me. I said, 'I hope you haven't come down here to start another fight!' o_O His face was a picture.

I wouldmstart a fight in an empty house....they slip out before I can catch them....must try harder.

No. I think I am the worst. I slip up all the time.
I always have trouble at using the right words, it has been like this as far back as I can remember. I would never mean to offend anyone.
I have a routine prayer everyday at the alter of the mass, and one of them is offering up my lips for the good of God.
I know The Lord knows what I mean and I know He knows how I feel when I fail.

I think the person who has prefect control of their tongue is a very, very great saint.:)

I notice something very similiar on socila internet sites like Facebook, creally most of the stuff there is gossip.. It is just so easy to make a nasty comment , especially people with drink in them. But the consequences are massive. Hundreds of people can read these and entire families and neighbours break up.:) Its for this reason I tend to fight shy of them. Even the least remark can start world war three.:cautious:

    Matthew 12

[36] But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment. [37] For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

tHATS why I de-friend people who bash the Church. Even family members. Did it to my sister the other day. I'd rather not know and think good thoughts about you than know and walk around criticizing you in my head all day!!

:) I don't know I am inclined to call a spade a spade myself. Maybe too much.

But I always like the shocked look on people's faces when I pick up on them. :) I think telling people things to their faces can sometimes be helpful, its talking about them behind their backs is the killer.

But if we do tell them things I think the Holy Spirit has to guide us in this, there's no good knocking on a closed door. Or simply getting them riled up to no good effect. Let's face it; there's not many of us can take any sort of critcism at any time:rolleyes:

My tongue and temper together are a lethal combination, unfortunately. If I make to purgatory, I'll be doing a lot of extra time because of them.
