I have several, several reasons for believing the Apparitions in Garabandal were from heaven. I read through the entire thread entitled "Garabandal Info & Answers" and read every free online book on the subject and I might have watched every video related also. I know that Glenn Hudson has a list of prophecies that have come true already, you will find this on the thread I mentioned. I think that you believe in them already, correct? This is just my opinion but if you are trying to convince someone who is not interested in studying the apparitions for themselves then I think that you will have a very difficult time doing so. I may be wrong in stating this, please forgive me if that is that case, but I believe that you are trying to convert family members and may be friends also. I am no expert but I believe that you will be the greatest example to your family and friends. My additional advice is to try and discuss the approved sites with them and other known miracles or "proof" for non-believers, for example, the Shroud of Turin, The Tilma from Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Joseph's staircase, etc. This site includes articles on some of the miraculous things that I mentioned. http://infallible-catholic.blogspot.com/2012/03/miraculous-staircase-of-saint-joseph.html . Time magazine has done issues entitled "Miracles" which include mainly Catholic related stories. It would be great to get a copy of one of those and just leave it laying around your home for your family to peruse or if that is unavailable, check out some books on the things I mention from the library and sort of slip them under their noses. OR you could create your own report on these things, include pictures and a brief description of each item. Then you can share it with family and friends as an accomplishment of your own. I don't believe or disbelieve in Garabandal, Akita, Medjugorje or any other NOT approved apparition, prophecy or seer. I will certainly hear and see what's there and think about it. If they sound reasonable to me and appear to help others "Along There Way" all fine and good. I'll hold final judgement until the Church approves or condemns. I do believe in APPROVED apparitions, prophecy or seers... BUT .... REMEMBER! .... The Church does NOT require ANYONE to believe in the above but only asserts that The Church considers the approved ones worthy of belief. My biggest problem is folks that become so obsessed with some NOT approved "item" that they broadcast their beliefs as if "written in stone", don't advertize that the "item" is NOT approved and become angry, argumentative and down right nasty when others point out the NOT approved status. We have plenty of approved "items" so why waste time on NOT approved ....Eh!!!?? Personally, I think The Divine Mercy Message is where it's at .... especially "These days". GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!
1) Garabandal had the full support of three saints who knew in detail the messages of Garabandal (St. Padre Pio, Pope St. John Paul, St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta). 2) All the miracles that took place there. 3) Fits within the prophetic consensus and scripture. 4) The holiness that Conchita continues to live. 5) What my own study, heart and prayer life tells me about Garabandal.
Crew Dog & others, lets not list Garabandal as ' Not approved", because in FACT , it is "waiting to be approved" after the prophecied Miracle day. If it was "not approved" , the Vatican has had over 50 years to condemn it, or make a negative statement, and they have done neither. " Not approved" sounds like its been decided already,and obviously it hasn't. ( maybe add the word "yet". )
* Actually its 5 Saints : St.s Pio, John Paul II, Mother Teresa, Jose Marie Escriva, and Mother Maravillas. Not to mention a 6th is in the making with Blessed Pope Paul VI , who was the most approving and vocal of all .
It means that they were given the date of the Miracle, and are prudently waiting for it, before declaring final judgment.
Ya, it means it will take the right pope at the right moment to declare Garabandal's apparitions and messages to be of God, just as it took over 50 years before the right pope and the right time gave the Church the Divine Mercy recognition.
Not looking to get in an argument Glen, but not approved is exactly what Garabandal is. The time period since the apparitions does not mean it is simply waiting for approval and it is a matter of time - as you seem to suggest. We only have to look at the apparitions in Lipa and seeing how they were condemned almost 70 years after they started, even with bishop approval at one point, as proof of that.
I disagree for the simple FACT that Conchita has met with the Vatican TWICE, both times being received well. So I feel it is correct to say that since the vatican knows the date , they too are waiting to make a final judgment. Pope Paul VI had shown a very special interest in the apparitions. At an audience given to Fr. His Holiness promptly rejoined: "It doesn't matter; tell these gentlemen that it is the Pope who has said that it is most important and most urgent to make these messages known to the world." Father Escalada explained his work in spreading the message of Garabandal in Mexico and the Pope Paul VI encouraged him to continue saying: "These messages must be made known." Father Escalada asked the Pope for his permission to continue promoting Garabandal and the Pope said “YES”. Pope Paul VI said : "It is the most beautiful story of humanity since the days of Christ. It is like a second life of the Virgin on earth. And we can never be grateful enough for it." , "Jacinta, I am with you, but we have to pray much and have much patience . . : it. is necessary to pray that the Church will become aware of the importance of Garabandal." None of the above sounds like " not approved".
I have always believed that Garabandal is 100% authentic. Right now it is about the only thing that will divert some from the path to damnation. God Bless

I voted to be careful but I always tend to lean toward this until the Church has given it's decision. We know that many Saints were very supportive of it as well as Popes too which as Glenn and others have pointed out should give us some basis in understanding. On a personal level I do think that it is worthy of belief and I was pretty undecided on this until I watched an interview with Conchita who spoke about the time of doubt she went through. For some reason this really rang out to me. Here is a woman who experienced these apparitions and messages who also was afflicted afterward. She has no reason to tell us this other than the fact that she is honest. It speaks volumes about her character.
Yes, Mother Nieves was very close to Conchita. Secondly Conchita was very quick to also say she FIRMLY believes in everything that happened to her, and has NEVER recanted that since the 1980s interview.
