I am astonished on how many prophecies are out there. Common sense tells me they can't all be true. To recieve Divine messages is a true privilege. If one does recieve messages daily or monthly, I would feel as if they would be leading very good lives. As you would be having regular Heavenly guidance. I can't imagine doing anything wrong if I was seeing Christ or Mary often. (Ok, I know everyone sins, but you know what I mean). A priest recently said. "One way of knowing if someone is recieving Divine messages is by, if they are humble? Or if money is being made from it?" How many prophets do we need for these times? I thank God for sending us The Blessed Virgin Mary to Fatima. (approved) I thank God for giving St Faustina messages and the knowledge of the Divine Mercy. (approved) I thank God for St Pio, who tells us how to prepare for the chastisement. (My knowledge on St Pio is limited, I want to learn more about him) (approved) I thank God for sending Our Lady to Garabandal to remind us of the warning and the coming chastisement. (not yet approved). Lately on this forum, there have been so many different prophets/seers mentioned. So, I open this thread to talk about all kinds of different prophecies, true or false. I feel we need to help each other, discuss matters. We have been warned "Beware of the false prophet." There is a reason for this warning. May God Bless this thread, so it doesn't become an attack on any seers, but I pray that this thread will be helpful in guiding us. Amen.
Personally the only messages I read are from Medjugorje. In fact, I try to live them and that is the sign of authenticity because if messages are from heaven they change hearts.
The fact of the matter is that our Lady at Medjugorje said that if she had to , she would appear in every single person's living room in the world. THAT is what she is doing. Yes, we have to be super, super careful. It HELPS to know the faith and have a pure heart and LIVE the faith. We are all open to deception. I am a researcher. Our journeys are all different, but many are similar. We cannot dismiss the 'whispers' of Christ in our hearts anymore than we can dismiss the sun. I think we will find our Lord and our Lady talking to more and more people. We must be prudent. There is guidelines for discernment! Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater! DISCERNMENT The following information may be helpful in discerning the signs and wonders of the present day. The info was taken from several sources. In Wm. A. Reck’s latest and final book, Dear Marian Movement, Let God Be God, he states, "In only a 15 year period, from 1960 - 1975, Marian devotion seemed to disappear. Much of the strength of the Catholic Church also seemed to disappear along with the Marian movement. Seminaries and convents emptied. Schools closed. Vocations were lost." "Strongly, in another short span of 15 years 1980 - 1995, the Marian movement seemed to spring up again. This time though, it has become a period of wild and often-times uncontrolled reports of apparitions and supernatural manifestations. It has become an era of unprecedented visions, locutions and claims of signs and wonders. Many seem to be of very suspicious origin." The Second Vatican Council confirmed all previous dogmas, doctrines and titles given to Mary be previous Church councils, and officially named Her as "Mother of the Church." Fr. Bert Buby, renowned author in Marianology states, "1) Whenever there is a period that is very disturbing in the history of humankind, or especially in the Catholic Church, the faithful often become confused and start searching for signs of divine intervention. "2) There is an excess of certain Marian devotions today, and the phenomena attributed to Mary. "3) Private revelations and apparitions tend to over-dogmatize Mary by going beyond the dogmas of the Church. "4) Today there is an inadequate presentation of Mary in the Church, adding to the appeal and confusion of the apparitions. I am most struck by this last point. If the shepherds do not believe, then the sheep will search anywhere and everywhere. This, apparently, is what has happened over the past several years. The need for discernment is critical and crucial. Without discernment there is division, animosity, confusion, disobedience, etc. Fr. Rene Laurentin, noted Marianologist, states four reasons for the extreme prudence the Church takes with regard to apparitions: "1) Private revelation cannot add to anything of Christ’s revelation. "2) Because apparitions come through "senses", the Church must consider these events low-level compared to dogma. "3) Apparitions are "subjective" meaning personal, of the mind or imagination. "4) People may be drawn more to the person having the apparition or private revelation than to the Church." This is not meant to dispute or discount private revelation. The documents of Vatican II strongly affirm the existence of private revelation. But as previously stated, one must discern. St. Ignatius tells us that satan is most happy to provide us with very positive fruits, if in doing so, he can capture our confidence and blow the whole thing up down the road. The Very Rev. Adolphe Tanquerey and Rev. A. Poulain state that "Satan can and does deceive us by very willingly giving us 95% of absolute truth and goodness in some message, just to get us to accept the other 5% that is not correct and can do us in." In 1978, the Vatican put out guidelines for judging apparitions. The guidelines are summarized as follows: "1) Sound devotion and rich spiritual fruits "2) No new revelation, no error in theological and spiritual doctrine "3) Certainty, or at least great probability, that the facts actually happened "4) Personal qualities of those involved, such as humility, obedience to the Church, no seeking of financial gain." "Bad private revelation is a kiss of death to the great gifts and charisms that our Lord God is making available to us in so many ways today. You are doing yourself, your Church, the claimed visionary involved, and the entire Marian movement, a great deal of good by questioning these things, and discerning these points with every new book or claimed apparition. It is not being judgmental. Judging is part of the process we have been sorely lacking and it is known as discernment." (Reck, Let God Be God) Some other questions to ask yourselves are: 1) Do the messages provide "spiritual soul food" and not spiritual entertainment? 2) Do they make Jesus the first priority in our lives? 3) Do they help simplify our lives and live the message as Our Lady has asked? Or do they demand unreasonable quantities of prayers and devotions, deterring us from fulfilling our vocation and obligations? 4) Do they lead to more confusion, chaos, anxiety, division, criticism and condemnation? Satan knows the strength of the Marian movement, that it has long been a key element to the prosperity and continuation of the Church. Thus he is going to attack it strongly, especially with confusion, disillusionment, and side-tracking. The following are Scripture passages that are helpful in understanding the need for discernment, especially in these days of confusion. Don’t panic, don’t get nervous and don’t give up! By patience and endurance, seek Truth - you will find It!! James 1:2-4 2 Tim 2:1-26 (esp, 7) 2 Tim 3:14-17 2 Thess 2:1-17 Heb 5:11-14 Rom 5:3-5 2 Tim 4:1-5
One thing that is NOT mentioned in the discernment process I just posted was the FACT that our Lady does say that Christ is coming. through our saints, like Faustina, Gertrude, Pio, Don Bosco they are all 'warning' what is coming down the pike. WE ARE THERE. WE are living it NOW. That is why we are to stay focused on the HOLY FATHER, THE BLESSED MOTHER AND THE EUCHARIST. They WILL lead us--whispering in our hearts and ears and visions too!! Question: How does one be confident in the Holy Spirit's gifts? THAT is a tough one...
I read the Medjugorje messages. The messages are good. There are a couple of messages that concern me though. There are so many conversions through Medjugorje. I used to believe. But for some reason my heart is questioning. Pray for me on this. Don't pray for me to believe, but pray that I will follow the truth.
MS7. On another thread, you are talking about Josyp Terelya. I haven't heard of him. Has he passed away? Where does the Church stand on him? I have heard there is a new seer in Ukraine. I don't assume it is the same one. Has anyone heard about this?
Maria Divine Mercy. the warning the second coming When I first heard about this, I couldn't understand why she stayed hidden. But I read and read her messages and I got sucked in to them. They seemed as if they could be true, and wow we can really be prepared. The messages kept on coming, and in them were predictions. So one day I decided to go through every message to see if predictions had come true. These are the things which made me think I needed to stop poisoning my mind. 15th Nov 2010. Stock pile food now. 29th Sept 2011. Prepare a supply of food and water to last a couple of weeks. 1st June 2012. You need to have food which will last a few years. 9th July 2012. Do not forget to have food which lasts ten days. These messages alone should make a person not read these messages anymore. But I will go on. 17th Feb 2011. There will be 3 world leaders assassinated shortly one by one. 17th Feb 2011. My daughter go spread the word quickly. You have only weeks. 31st May 2011. Garabandal prophecies- you have only a few months left to prepare your souls. 4th July 2011. Be careful my daughter when referring to dates. If I say months that could be any time within a year. 26th June 2012. Speaking of Heaven. You will see your children marry, have children. Gospel tells us different. Reading her messages wasn't making me feel good. I was thinking different towards our Priests, and I don't think that was good. This is why I don't read the messages anymore.
I always have a problem with modern prophescies. So many appear on the internet, supposedly giving us messages. But what about most of the world's population who do not have access to the internet - are they supposed to die, simply because they did not/could not sotre up food? It seems very unfair. I also read the warning/second coming site. I do not like it much, to be honest. It did however get me interested in Saint Faustina and Divine Mercy, so much so that I have started to say the chaplet. That I think is a good thing. Anyway, I have decided to pray more, which I might not have done if I had not found that site. Or it could be that St. Faustina is responsible. FoundSoul.
LostSoul, That is why I said that I if I don't help others with the store of food and other supplies I have, I will lose them too. God does not want us to just take care of ourselves. We have to care for other bodies and souls. Word of the day is Evangelize.
You sound like a wise person. I think it is fair to say Maria Divine Mercy's messages are not authentic with the proof I have given above. "Good always wins over evil." Through these false prophecies, you were turned to St Faustina and The Divine Mercy. I highly recommend the book of St Faustina's dairy. I have only read 2 books on Saints. I read about St Bernadette before my confirmation nearly 40 years ago. And about 18 months ago I read St Faustina's dairy. I was born a Catholic, but only 3 years ago through Garabandal decided I needed to change, and become a daily Catholic.
Jane, I too had not read one book on a saint until I was 21. I only knew about St. Francis. I knew NOTHING about the blessed Mother. It was the Marian Movement of Priests that brought me back to Church full force. You cannot make a mistake reading St. Faustina's diary. I went to Medjugorje out of curiosity and I lived in Europe. It cost me $179 !!! Of course it changed my life for the better.
I agree totally regarding the book of St Faustina's dairy. Reading this book made me realise how unselfish this Saint was. The suffering she went through for others. I was sick last year with food poisioning for about a month, and while I was sitting on the loo dry retching, I said to the Lord "please take this away from me". I wanted to offer it up, but I was too spiritually weak . My own needs overcome the gift of giving for sinners. The book made me realise how much even our nuns and priests need prayers. I still remember Jesus telling St Faustina about the nun who won't get to Heaven until the end.
"1) Sound devotion and rich spiritual fruits "2) No new revelation, no error in theological and spiritual doctrine "3) Certainty, or at least great probability, that the facts actually happened "4) Personal qualities of those involved, such as humility, obedience to the Church, no seeking of financial gain." MS7, These are logical and straight forward guidelines. The Church approaches private revelation in such a practical way and that is good. As for me, I'm not judging anyone who chooses to investigate a seer or locutionist. I have done so myself. But I like garabandal's attitude. He has found one oasis in Medjugorje and will draw wisdom and encouragement from that while awaiting the Church's judgment. In his Dark Night of the Soul, St. John of the Cross warns against spiritual avarice and luxury. This happens when one becomes engrossed in seeking spiritual knowledge and multiple experiences. St. John says such dabbling distracts one from simply clinging to Christ in prayer. The best question should be: which apparition, that passes the scrutiny of the above guidelines, has helped me to grow in faith and the love of God? Spend time at the oasis! Use that as a springboard to prayer. Seek Jesus alone. Mary loves to point the way. Don't let over-speculation concerning current events to detract from prayer and the personal responsibilities God has placed in our hands. As the old saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat!" Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
Thankyou for asking the question. I believe it is healthy to question and learn from each other. Although, I do feel rather nervous about me talking about Medjugorje, as I think everyone on these forums are believers except for Aviso. I also feel it is a closed case and we can't say anything that is questioning Medjugorje. So please forgive me if I am wrong in my judgement, and pray for me. Vicka says "The Blessed Mother says all religions are dear to Her and Her Son" 2nd Aug 2012. "May your mouth refrain from every judgement. Thankyou." Both these messages confuse me. With the growing of Islam, with religions that worship false idols, sect religions, etc.. We can't make any judgement? I would think Our Lady would want us to open our mouths and stand up for the laws of God. Who wants to silence us against abortion, euthanasia, same sex marriage? When I have spoken against same sex marriage, I have had someone throw Christianity back in my face by saying "we shouldn't judge". Yet I wasn't making judgement on them, but I was judging against man's law and I was standing up for God's law. Did you know 25th Aug 1997 was the last time Our Lady of Medjugorje said to 'pray the Rosary'? Since then, only 6 times the Rosary was mentioned, but to 'have in your hands'. Why doesn't Our Lady at Medjugorje talk about the very prayers that will hurt Satan? The most important prayers for our end times are..... Rosary Prayer to St Michael Divine Mercy Chaplet. So we've been told to say the Rosary only 6 times since 1981, and have the Rosary your hands 5 more times. No mention of praying to St Michael. No mention of Divine Mercy prayer. Chastisements aren't mentioned. Mirjana saw Mary and the devil disguised as Mary, at the same time. The large amount of money Ivan makes. ( I have checked this first hand.) I haven't checked any other seer, and I don't want to. I'm not going to say 'I am right, and you are Wrong'. Because I know that isn't the right thing to do. I also know that I could be the one that is wrong, and if I am wrong, May God have mercy on me! I know there have been so many conversions and I have heard about the signs. All I can suggest is for everyone to open their minds and pray about it. Matthew 24:24 and false prophets will arise, and will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
After saying that. On the bright side, I want to share what happened to me while in Medjugorje. I traveled alone to Medjugorje, and arrived at about midday on a Sunday. It was a 40 degrees day or 104 fahrenheit. My time in Medjugorje was quick as I was planned to leave first thing on the Tuesday. So I had 43 hours there. I had just given the cab driver my last dollar before I checked into the hotel. I was hungry and quite thirsty, so I made my way to the ATM to withdraw money to cover me for those 2 days. I put my card in the machine, the machine gave me my reciept, gave me no money and worse of all kept my card. Here I was in a foreign country. I was alone, could not speak the language, it was hot, I was thirsty, hungry and I had no money, no working phone, no internet. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to leave the machine, it had my card, my only way of getting money. I had a flight to get in 2 days, how was I going to get to my flight with no money? The Lord works in mysterious ways. He showed me what it is like to be alone, hungry, thirsty, with no money in a foreign land. I must have had a very worried look on my face. Then God sent me 2 angels. An elderly couple walked up to me (they were about to use the machine), they saw my face and asked if I was alright? My first thought was, "Good they can speak English." I told them my situation. Then they organised for someone to take me to the bank in Mostar the next day, and with the kindness of their hearts, they gave me 20USD. They didn't want to give me their details for me to return them the money, they just said to pray for them. Satan, through the machine tried to take me away from prayer while in Medjugorje. But good always wins over evil. God over Satan. Evil is the ATM machine, a man made machine which is made for fast money which contributes to the evil of this world. Me having no money gave me worries and tried distracting me from prayer for that day. But God won. He sent me 2 Angels. They showed me kindness and generosity (Satan would have hated this) I just wanted to share this with everyone. Just to let you know, I am not anti Medjugorje. I just have concerns.
Jane, just wanted to say I have the EXACT same reservations on Medjugorje! I'm am reserving judgement on that apparition and just really don't follow it. Not saying I don't believe, but when good believers are struggling in this world to help people to the Truth of Jesus teachings, and then have those statements thrown out there, it's very discouraging. I've never felt called to Medjugorje, so have never gone, but I do feel deeply attracted to Garabandal for many years. Not sure if that means anything, but I've prayed about it also for many years. Know alot of people who have been converted at Medjugorje, so the fruits seem to be very good. ?? I guess we'll see....
Just a couple of thoughts on this topic.. Our Lady has been teaching us about prayer and how to love in her school of love all of these years. As in any school one has to progress and I feel one of the reasons she has not mentioned praying the rosary specifically in recent years is that perhaps we are expected to know how to by now. The seers are never seen praying without a rosary in their hands. Also I have noticed a deepening of the messages over recent months and sometimes I feel I need to be ever more prayerful just to keep up with her... Having said that I'm still awaiting on the judgement of the Church on it all, but it has brought me back to God and kept me there. If it was disapproved I still have my faith in Jesus which is the only thing that matters when all is said and done. God Bless BC
I have read and re-read the monthly messages from Medjugorje and have found nothing contrary to the faith. Rather, the messages are one of prayer, fasting and conversion - a compendium of the Gospel message of Repent and Believe the Good News. The proof of Medjugorje is bound up with the future and the ten secrets. If they come to pass we will all be in awe.
Thankyou Carmel, BorderCollie, Garabandal, and Patrice. It's very good to hear other points of view. It helps us to keep our eyes open, otherwise we can become too closed. Personally, I would now like to get off Medjugorje. I would like to open up conversation on St Pio. He fascinates me. My knowledge on him is limited. Does St Pio talk about the warning? I know he believed in Garabandal.
Today is the Feast day of St Pio. I am doing some research on him. Does anyone know. Did St Pio talk about 'the warning'?
