In a conversation recently someone mentioned how many people here are still wearing masks ~ these poor people were then referred to as "snowflakes". I've been guilty of using that term myself at times, but hearing it the other day sent a cold shiver thru me because of what Sr. Lucia said about the souls the children saw falling into hell ~ like "snowflakes". I love watching falling snow, it's beautiful. But I can't call anyone a "snowflake" anymore because it seems almost like a curse now. Honest question: Does that make sense? I've been asking Our Lady of the Snows to intercede for all who use the term & for those to whom it is directed..
Yes it does make sense. Your conscience is being directed by the Holy Spirit. I know it's right to judge actions of others and not follow them into sin, but lately I am being shown that calling them names is wrong. It brings no positive action to them or anyone else and we should always strive to bring positive action to a situation. We should be aware of things and events, but calling names accomplishes nothing. As we pray the Holy Spirit of truth guides us more and more and our conscience is enlightened.
The only place I really see people wearing masks now is in the Hospitals and in Churches. The main reason we wear them in hospitals is because we are ordered to. The reason given is not medical, they tell us basically it is to keep people happy and assure them we are doing something. I don't want to wear them and I am sure there are many like me. But if we didn't wear them we would get in trouble. I am not quite sure why in Churches everyone uses them. In our Traditional Church none uses them and this was the same way right through the Pandemic. Very, very few ever really wore them. Now and again I do see the very, very odd person wearing a mask and my heart goes out to them. I just feel sorry for them , whereas before I felt very cranky about it all. Perhaps these poor people have some medical condition that fills them with fear, or perhaps they feel because of their age they are frightened, poor people. But in Church I do feel cranky. But what helps me a lot is that I don't be talking to many people. I can go days and days, even whole weeks without really talking to anyone. This keeps my mouth zipped up. St James counsels that the person who can control their tongues has gained the greatest perfection. I notice outside Churches people often stand talking for long periods of time. I don't think this is Spiritually healthy. It's bound to wind up in gossiping. It's just the way we are. But I see folks doing it for an hour and more. When I past the Church and hour or even two hours after Mass , very often they are still there talking away. I notice our very Holy Priest keeps a certain reserve and distance with the people and when he does talk he tends to keep it on spiritual topics. He is very, very wise in this. I think God understands that for some reason as we get older we tend to get more cranky and that is one thing, so long as we keep in the realm of passing thoughts. But when we put it into words , this is quite another. James 3 1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11
I love the prayer. Not being at all perfect, and very cranky myself especially the last few years, I'll hang onto it. We have no traditional parish here, so one does one's best with what one has. Sometimes I wonder if I'm truly nuts, which is why I finally decided to take a leap of faith and sign up here. (Someone said courage is nothing but fear which has said its prayers) My husband is supportive and has more charity in his little toe than I do, but I literally have no one to talk to about these things.....
Welcome, Lois. I look forward to reading your thoughts concerning the times in which we live. How wonderful to have a supportive spouse! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
I used this term once and in front of my daughter and she quickly explained to me where it came from and I felt so bad that I said it. She told me that when she was in elementary school the teachers would explain to them that like snowflakes they are all different, they are individuals. I immediately thought of God when she told me this, it is amazing that we all are different and have different gifts to offer etc. God is amazing!
God is amazing! Never boring! When I first read Padraig's story I was amazed. The Blessed Mother asking "do you forgive?" always stayed with me. It took years, but I finally realized unless I believed in God's forgiveness for myself, I would not be capable of forgiving as He forgives. It took a very long time. I get cranky now because it seems so many seek justice, but actual forgiveness/mercy is missing. Sorry for just jumping into the forum. I've been lurking for so long it was like I already knew you all. Such a wonderful gathering of souls ~ God bless you all ~~
I was just watching the below video for the umpteenth time this morning. If you have the time you should watch it, it would be well worth it. It explains that the Third Secret of Fatima refers to Apostasy in the Church COMING FROM THE VERY TOP. Sigh . This is happening to us even as we speak. So this might explain us being a little cranky. Prayer and Fasting, especially the Rosary is the answer. However we will not be sent to hell for the bad choices Popes, Cardinals, Bishops and Priests make , only our own. We must trust in the good God to take care of us and leave these poor prelates to the mercy of God...and His Sovereign Justice. Luke 18:8 The Persistent Widow …7Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help? 8I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” 9To some who trusted in their own righteousness and viewed others with contempt, He also told this parable
You didn't jump in Lois like most of us here you checked to see if the water was warm. Welcome to our Heavenly Mother Mary's livingroom.
There have been several posts on FB this morning to sign a petition to ban assault weapons. I wanted to comment, does that include tongues? But I kept quiet.
I have no idea why but I have been making some pretty sharp comments on Face Book and utube recently. Cranky old me. But I wouldn't make a habit of it. Just blowing off steam, for all the good it ever does. Still I enjoyed it. Brought me back to my much younger days when the internet was just starting out.
Yes but I learnt a lesson from someone older and wiser than me back then. Not to wind up like a dog chasing it's own tail. There's really not a point to it. It can go on forever and doesn't wind up going anywhere. There's not much point to it. (apart from putting your Blood Pressure way up)
Happy you are here Lois. My husband is supportive but let’s me do the reading and talking. We pray the rosary together much more now and it makes me so happy he has really realized the importance of it. Some of our children and 12 grandchildren practice the faith and some are not so we pray for their return and for many other needs and I do Adoration often and mostly include the needs of those asking for prayers on the forum.. I have also joined The Flame of Love Prayer group so I do have a few friends 5 or so I Think of the same mind and we also have a Heralds of the Gospel Group which are very supportive in our parish so they often have nights to learn about Mary. We are Blessed here. I also have a few friends who would dismiss all this and it is hard so I try to offer my prayers for them -as they ask for them- and stay mum because I’ve tried and can’t reach them. Mostly they go to mass but believe as the world believes.
