    Padraig,

I've never seen an image of Our Lady quite like the one you put up today. What do the chains symbolize, pray tell? Also, there is such a pained expression in her eyes. Do you know the artist?

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

I got this picture from a blog called 'The two hearts ablaze', the person running it seems to know more about devotions and prayers than the Pope himself.

If I had to guess, I'd say the chains represent the arrest of Jesus, when He was taken into captivity, but its only a guess, the blogger will know:

I really love this picture you have posted of Our Lady being assumed into heaved.
She looks so beautiful... I love the flowers and Jesus waiting in the background... beautiful.
    Thanks so much.

    God bless,
    ~Rae

You're welcome, Rae. I always imagined Mary standing up, looking up to heaven as she was Assumed, but I suppose ,when you think about it she must have been lying down

It reminds me of the Feast the Orthodox celebrate, The Dormition, the death or going to sleep of Mary.
