Due to advice here on the forum, for the past few days I've been meditating on Our Lady's Seven Sorrows every night, praying the Hail Mary's with them...and I just wanted to share with y'all the graces it seems my family has already received!

First of all, yesterday my husband was in such a good mood and we were all laughing together and having such a wonderful time as a family...and I realized it's been a really long time since we all felt so light at heart, with all the stress we've had this past year. It was really wonderful and I am so grateful.

Second, today my mother, who has had a lot of mental issues throughout my childhood that caused so much tension and heartache in our relationship, asked me a question she has asked me many times since my dad divorced her when I was a teen: "Why did you kids choose to live with your dad instead of me?" She always asks this when she's already feeling upset about something, as it's a bitter memory for her that constantly resurfaces. In the past, when she asked me this, it felt like a knife to my heart, because when my dad divorced her, I begged and begged him not to. I loved my mom very much and wanted my parents to stay together. And I stayed at the house with my dad because my little siblings were staying and I wanted to be with them. So to be asked that question would always cause pain while I tried to defend myself.

But this time was different. Instead of feeling hurt yet again, I actually only felt what she must be feeling, and I found myself telling her how sorry I was for how it all happened, and taking responsibility for how selfish and immature I was at the time...And oh my goodness, my mom cried and cried and thanked me and told me how all she'd wanted all this time was for me to understand how abandoned she'd felt...and then she started apologizing for how she treated me as a child, and explained all that better...and by the end of that conversation, we both felt healed from a lot of the stuff that had kept our relationship so fragile for so long.

This was truly huge. So very many deep wounds finally addressed and able to better heal. I still feel a bit overwhelmed by what a grace it was.

Third, my sister who has been living with her boyfriend for 5 years and always planned to get married outside of the Church texted me today to tell me that she's going to get married in her Catholic church and the date is set for next January!! She and her atheist boyfriend are going to go to all the classes and do everything right, thanks be to God!

And fourth, my brother Joseph texted me today to tell me he just bought a crucifix to put in his new apartment he just moved into. And that may seem small, but this is the first religious item he's ever bought for himself. He's never cared enough before in all his adult life.

So I'm kind of reeling over here from all the blessings. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind it's from Our Lady of Sorrows.

If anyone has been putting off starting or resuming this devotion, you might want to just do it! :D

You can’t imagine how much I needed this! I had started the 7 sorrows Rosary, but I didn’t pray it today. I was just going to give up on praying it. I’ll begin again tomorrow. I sure need moods around me to change for the better. I need laughter! Thanks so much PF. So happy for you.

Our Lady told St. Bridget of Sweden that she wanted people to meditate on her 7 sorrows.

“I gaze upon the children of men to see whether anyone feels compassion for me, and alas, I see but few! …Do not forget me. Consider how much I have suffered.” --Our Lady to St. Bridget

    1. The Prophecy of Simeon
    2. The Flight into Egypt
    3. The Loss of the Child Jesus for 3 Days
    4. Meeting Jesus on the Way of the Cross
    5. Jesus' Crucifixion
    6. Jesus Being Taken Down from the Cross
    7. Jesus' Burial

We're supposed to think about Mary's suffering during these events and show compassion and gratitude for what her heart endured for us. It is sufficient to meditate on each sorrow and pray one Hail Mary for each, but there's also a 7 Sorrows Rosary that involves praying 7 Hail Mary's for each sorrow. Mary taught one of the Kibeho visionaries to pray this.

The graces Mary promised to those who contemplate her sorrows daily are amazing:

    1) “I will grant peace to their families.”
    2) “They will be enlightened about the divine Mysteries.”
    3) “I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.”
    4) “I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.”
    5) “I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.”
    6) “I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother.”
    7) “I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.”

Its like being given a solid gold, diamond encrusted winning lottery ticket!!
The secret is tho, to stay with it.
Tip: it can be said at intervals. It doesn't all have to be said in one go.

A few years ago I stumbled upon Our Lady of Sorrows. I can’t remember how, but I found an online book and only began meditating on the mysteries often, nothing else. When I meditated I would spend a lot of time just meditating and really tried to connect to Our Mother’s sorrows and would get very emotional. At this time I did not know the graces associated with this devotion. I was very stressed and unhappy with my marriage at the time. I woke up one night and I knew Our Lady was in the room and I had such a peace overcome me for several hours. She healed our marriage bonds by making me realize I can’t change my spouse but only myself. Our relationship has truly been blessed and grown thanks to Our Mother. I found out later she will heal families :). I keep trying to get back into meditating again but I’ve been inconsistent or fall asleep because of work and all the other prayers I’m trying to accomplish daily. This devotion keeps coming up in various ways, so I know Our Lady is wanting this devotion to be renewed for the healing of all families. Please say a prayer for me and everyone on this forum that we can accomplish Our Lady’s wishes.

    God bless!

Yes, staying with it can be a difficult challenge because it seems like temptations come hard against this devotion...because satan hates it! I started it up a couple times before this but only lasted one or two days at a time...even though I absolutely loved it and was so moved by it. For some reason I kept putting it off or thinking I'd never be able to come up with new aspects to meditate on, even as the urge to start it back up again has always been in the back of my mind almost daily!

So thank you for your push to get started again. This time I'm considering it a non-negotiable, every day, forever.
