Hello my brothers and sisters in Christ,

Tomorrow (April 10th) we begin our 33 day journey in preparation for our consecration to our heavenly mother, the blessed virgin Mary. We've got a great group ready to begin and grow closer to Jesus through Mary. Afterward, we'll officially be in Mary's army and will be actively working and doing our part to bring about the triumph of the immaculate heart. Along the way we'll go through a range of emotions , thoughts, and experiences. I hope we can share them on this thread, and we'll get each other through any stumbling blocks and distractions from you know who! On this journey we have:

    Indy
    Clare
    Ecclesiasticus 2
    Andy
    Charity
    Mario
    Adoremus
    Miriam
    Ellabellastella (I think)
    PotatoSack

So, we've got a mix of veterans and rookies/newbies. Most are using 33 Days to Morning Glory, but some are using de Montford. Either way, expect the unexpected over the next 33 days. Our mother will literally be molding us a bit and "weeding our gardens" so she may present each of us as a beautiful flower to Jesus on consecration day. :)

    Let us begin!

    Ain't it grand!:)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you!

Come Holy Spirit, living in Mary! May You and your beloved spouse bring us face-to-face with Jesus Crucified!

I just did the first prayers for day one under Montfort (the beatitudes!!) and even though I have already been through this once I learned something new today!

I had no idea that if you say the Ave Maris Stella prayer every day for one month you will earn indulgences of 3 years! Also if you recite the Magnificat every day as well for one month you will also earn indulgences of 3 years!

Good stuff to know for sure and to do of yourselves or another!

Thank you Andy for posting- I read Potato Sacks post this morning and in my head thought her "tomorrow" meant - tomorrow- Friday- without connecting the date- I almost missed beginning today!

I have done the consecration twice before using Montfort so I was looking forward to using 33 days to morning glory anew- however I found myself missing the prayers of Montfort. So I am striving to use both-I think they compliment each so well -
Mary please keep me strong and steadfast and united to you!

Just checking in - I'm using the Gaitley book, but think I will also augment with the prayers from de Montfort, and, where I can, the readings. Isn't there a site somewhere which has everything on it? Moved house last year and still not unpacked all my books...

again what is good about Montfort's is that if you say the Ave Maria Stella and Magnificat along with this method for the next 33 days you will have also earned indulgences of 6 years!!! What a nice little bonus!

And two exceptionally amazing prayers they are. I'm trying to learn the Magnificat off without reading it for a while now, nearly there, it takes a while to sink in for me. I am hoping some day a priest will ask me to say it as penance after confession.

After consecration De Monfort asks us to regularly recite it, for me every day is not enough I love it so much.

I love how the day we start this I read the following message: now I know this is not approved but I still see some amazing things in these messages and know these messages are given in Spanish and translated probably using google translate.

    The Light of Mary
    www.RevelacionesMarianas.com/

    March 16th, 2013
    GIVEN IN PUERTO RICO

(Blessed Virgin Mary) HAIL MARY MOST PURE, CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN.

Beloved children of My Immaculate Heart, I bless you.

I HAVE COME TO YOU TO BRING YOU MY WORD AND MY LOVE…

    Where are you going, humanity?

Where are you headed, alone and abandoned, without My Son’s Love and despising this Mother’s Love? Why do you not heed My Calls?

Will it be that you will not lift your gaze to Heaven until you are totally undermined by satan’s very clutches… until you drag yourselves through the earth?

Beloved children, to you, to you do I cry out, to those who say they love Me, to those who feel they love Me, to those who constantly give themselves to My Son and to Me; to you do I cry out so that you awaken in this instant and not wait for another instant. Children:

HUMANITY SUCCUMBS IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE BEFORE THE HANDS OF THOSE WHO USE THE POWER THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THEM BY YOU YOURSELVES, THEY CUT THROUGH LIMITS THAT MAN CAN STILL NOT EVEN IMAGINE.

The suffering for humanity is ALREADY at the door, and all those who proclaim themselves My children must be obedient to My Son’s Calls and to My Calls.

I suffer, yes, I suffer as Mother of Humanity; I suffer for those who love Me and I suffer for those who do not love Me. All are My children, and I intercede for all constantly.

My beloved, the great darkness approaches Earth and man in his ignorance will say that the phenomenons of Nature are exhibiting themselves, but it is not so, it is on the contrary; Nature is casting its implacable power over all the Nations of the Earth.

THE PURIFICATION DOES NOT WAIT, and… Woe to those of My children who wait until the last instant to convert! Because everything will happen without warning, it will arrive without being expected and those who wait until the last instant will not have it, because before the harshness of the Purification, crying out for mercy will be forgotten by man, who will already be extremely fearful in the face of what he sees.

Children, the Sky will burn, both the Earth along with the Sky will burn seeming to be one; and only those, those who have consecrated themselves to My Immaculate Heart, AND ONLY THOSE WHO LIVE COMMITTED TO THE DIVINE WILL, ONLY THEY WILL BE LIGHTS WHO BY THE TRINITARIAN WILL, REMAIN HERE ON EARTH TO GUIDE THE HOLY REMNANT.

I pray that I am able to sustain a high level of enthusiasm and zeal over these next 33 days...the same zeal that montford had during hi days as a priest. I know we will be picking each other up in prayer and kind posts so that we will all pick up steam as the days go on and are bursting by consecration day :)

is that true Andy...that you only need say the prayer daily for a month to get indulgences? That's it? I'm often blown away by God's generosity. This is such an easy thing to do for others. I want to develop the mindset of giving all my prayers away so that when my time is up here on this earth I will face God with empty hands because I have given all my prayers and indulgences away. DDe montford spoke of doing this and I want to really contemplate this.

The Magnificat is included in the evening divine office. I've printed off the three prayers/hymns recommended by de Montfort. Where there are graces going - I want! Indulgences included. Since the start of the year I've been saying 2x Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be daily, in honour of the Precious Blood. Wonderful promises to anyone who keeps it up for three years and if you die before the time is up, it doesn't matter, the promises will be upheld. Good to know because I do have days when I forget....

I too was blown away yesterday by the Beatitudes. As I read them it was as if the Holy Spirit was pointing to Mary, how she perfectly fulfils them. And at the end of the discourse, Jesus says something I'd not registered before - that anyone who dismisses these words will be the 'least in the Kingdom of Heaven' - note he doesn't say that they will lose their salvation, just that their place in heaven will be lower. He's speaking to the disciples, people who already follow him. Interesting, isn't it, that he isn't preaching to the crowd here - perhaps only the converted heart can understand this message. May Mary our mother help us to understand them more closely and cling to them more readily.

    Day 2
Come Holy Spirit, living in Mary,...
Prepare me to give myself fully to living out this true and solid devotion.

In our thread preceeding the consecration, I posted a lot about the benefits of consecration, such as being put on the most direct path to Jesus...Mary will augment and enhance your prayers thus resulting in more grace as she presents them to Jesus for us...Mary will take a special inerest in our prayer intentions, etc. but i did not post alot about our responsibilities after consecration day. we must develop a deep devotion to Mary...as we will offer all of our prayers and good works to her. ultimately, we must detach completely from our own will and become completely attached to God's will. in this way, we can become an instrument of God to accomplish mighty works.

I've been thinking of what I have been holding on to that is my will that is keeping me from getting closer to God. and I believe one thing is that I know from prayer that God wants me to fast. He's been pretty clear. and I've been stubborn in making a whole hearted 24 hour effort. so, I think one of my goals for this consecration is to really make fasting a part of my week. i really must be obediant to God' request for me to fast and Mary has reqested it at Medj too.

so I ask for your prayers to help with this. my gosh, can you imagine what Mary can do with our offered fasts? I want to grow closer to God and to grow in holiness and to live out this consecration fully...so please my Mother, help me to fast!! not my stubborn will but what God wants me to do!!

Clare A. Montforts daily prayers will change after 2 days and then change again each week. They get much longer with several litanies in there. I still plan on adding the other 2 prayers though into my daily prayers.

Can't find the indulgences yet but I will. In the meantime I did find these comments from different popes:

    COMMENDATIONS OF THE POPES
Blessed Pope Pius IX (1846–78): Declared that Saint Louis De Montfort’s devotion to Mary was the best and most acceptable form of devotion to Our Lady.

Pope Leo XIII (1878–1903): Granted a Plenary Indulgence to those who make Saint Louis De Montfort’s act of consecration to the Blessed Virgin. On his deathbed he renewed the act himself and invoked the heavenly aid of Saint Louis De Montfort, whom he had beatified in 1888.

Pope Saint Pius X (1903–14): “I heartily recommend True Devotion to The Blessed Virgin, so admirably written by [Saint] De Montfort, and to all who read it grant the Apostolic Benediction.” . . .”There is no surer or easier way than Mary in uniting all men with Christ.”

Pope Benedict XV (1914–22): “A book of high authority and unction.”

Pope Pius XI (1922–39): “I have practiced this devotion ever since my youth.”

Pope Pius XII (1939–58): “God Alone was everything to him. Remain faithful to the precious heritage, which this great saint left you. It is a glorious inheritance, worthy, that you continue to sacrifice your strength and your life, as you have done until today.”

Pope Paul VI (1963–78): “We are convinced without any doubt that devotion to Our Lady is essentially joined with devotion to Christ, that it assures a firmness of conviction to faith in Him and in His Church, a vital adherence to Him and to His Church which, without devotion to Mary, would be impoverished and compromised.”

Blessed Pope John Paul II (1978–2005): “The reading of this book was a decisive turning-point in my life. I say ‘turning-point,’ but in fact it was a long inner journey . . . This ‘perfect devotion’ is indispensable to anyone who means to give himself without reserve to Christ and to the work of redemption.” . . .“It is from Montfort that I have taken my motto: ‘Totus tuus’ (‘I am all thine’). Someday I’ll have to tell you Montfortians how I discovered De Montfort’s Treatise on True Devotion to Mary, and how often I had to reread it to understand it.”

Vatican Council II (1962–1965): ‘The maternal duty of Mary toward men in no way obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power. All her saving influence on men originates not from some inner necessity, but from the divine pleasure. It flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on His mediation, depends entirely on it and draws all its power from it.’ . . . ‘The practices and exercises of devotion to her recommended by the Church in the course of the centuries [are to] be treasured.’ (Lumen Gentium: 60, 67).

Thanks Andy for all your information - I must go back to my copy of TD and find the litanies etc. I like the Gaitley book but there isn't enough prayer in it for me.

Pope St Pius X (1903-1914), like Leo XIII, also recommended de Montfort's teaching on Mary to the faithful. In fact, he granted a plenary indulgence in perpetuum (in perpetuity) to anyone who would pray the de Montfort's formula for Marian consecration, and he offered his own apostolic blessing to anyone who would simply read True Devotion. This Pope so strongly encouraged the faithful to follow de Montfort's path to Marian devotion because he himself had experience it's power. In fact, in his Marian encyclical Ad Diem Illum, the saintly Pope expressed his own dependence on de Montfort in writing it, which becomes obvious when one compares it with True Devotion. The Pope's encyclical continually reflects the tone and spirit of de Montfort's classic work as evidenced by sentences like this: "there is no surer or easier way than Mary in uniting all men with Christ."

Some things to ponder upon during this Holy Week. Just thoughts of love and compassion.
"Mary our created Immaculate conception", help us to know you more deeply not only as we live our daily life with all our ups and downs, but deepen our inner most parts of our heart. Help us to understand who you are so, we will know your son more fully!
"What type of union is this between the Holy Spirit and you", oh blessed one? As the Holy Spirit dwells in you and continues to rest with in you what did you feel as your son went through His passion and death? As a Mother more so than all other mothers your heart had to be broken to a depth unknown by others. Mary full of grace was there more than this? Because of the Holy Spirits full prescence within and through, were you united in one with the Father and your Son in all pain and feel each new nail pearcing, did you feel the thorns imbedding, did you feel the scourging tearing your back and sides?
Most of all, oh Holy Mary Mother of God did you feel empty of Love or did you see more LOVE that day and each day in the Mass then any words, thoughts, or disires could ever imagine by your Sons example? Did you feel desserted in lonliness as all left your side through our continued sinfullness? Did you ask, where are my children?
Yet, you loved as your Son LOVED, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they do"! What kind of love is this? I want it, I desire this not for my own sake , but, "for the sake of the whole world. Have mercy on us and on the whole world!" AMEN
