Understanding the Perfect Relationship with Mary that We are Called to Imitate

Does not perfection for our Lord's disciples consist in being like Him? Has He not said that He gave us the example, that as He has done, so also we must do? Did not St. Paul repeat again and again that everything for him consisted in imitating Christ, in clothing himself in Christ, in taking on the dispositions and cross of Christ, in no longer living his own life but the life of Christ? Therefore, it must follow that the most perfect relationship with Mary is the one Jesus had, and this is the one we are to imitate and which we can, as she was given to us as our Mother by Jesus under the Cross.

Therefore, we must strive to accept all the Grace possible in order to have the same tender, loving relationship that Jesus had for Mary and Mary had for Jesus. God wills this same relationship! Think about this condescension, this complete self giving! Meditate on this Scripture passage..."as I have done , so you must do". Have you made your consecration to Jesus through Mary? Have you renewed it each year? Do you pray at least one rosary faithfully every single day? Have you accepted and nourished the Flame of Love Grace given precisely so you can imitate this Love? Why do you spend so little time on the one Gift which can cause you to advance in your duty rapidly and securely?

Meditation from an excerpt in "My Ideal: Jesus Son of Mary" by Fr. Emil Neubert
