BREAKING: Bishop Tony Palmer, Pope Francis’ Friend, Dies in Motorcycle Crash
July 21, 2014 By Kathy Schiffer 7 Comments
    R.I.P. Bishop Tony Palmer
    Died July 20, 2014

Tony Palmer, the charismatic young preacher who enjoyed a friendship with Pope Francis, has apparently died in a motorcycle accident.

Not a Catholic, Palmer was bishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, a group that is inspired by the “middle way” of classical Anglicanism and considers itself part of the Convergence Movement.

News is spotty at this point; but according to Archbishop Charles Hill, presiding prelate at Ambassadors for Christ Ministries of America (AFCMOA) in Atlanta, Palmer was in an accident while riding a motorcycle in the U.K. After hours of surgery, Bishop Palmer died on Sunday, July 20, 2014.

I only watched this interview with Tony a few days ago

    I was very impressed.

So sad he will not see the fruits of all his work. Pope Francis must be very upset. This is very upsetting for anyone who seeks Christian unity.

    From same website:

"How far this is from the heretical ecumenism and phony “search for unity” promoted by the Modernist Vatican II Sect of which Francis is the head. As blogger Louie Verrecchio rightly points out: “The sudden death of Tony Palmer lends perspective to just how much is at stake when it comes to the deeply troubling words and deeds of the current pope [sic]” (source). Such as, for example, Francis’ explicit admission, “I’m not interested in converting Evangelicals to Catholicism” (source).

Let us pray that somehow, by a miracle of divine grace, Mr. Palmer was able to convert to the True Faith before being called so suddenly to appear before his Judge, who desires “all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:4)."

    Wow, just wow.

I would never force the faith on anyone...it wouldn't be called FAITH if it wasn't a gift! I agree with the Pope! I'm not interested in converting anyone. Planting seeds, yes---God converts!

I agree and want to be clear I am with the Pope. My wow is that this website would write something as uncharitable as this about a man who believed in Christ. It saddens me greatly to read this.

Tony seemed such a holy man ,so alive and full of enthusiasm , I can see how the Holy Father and he were on the same wave length.

No doubt he will continue the good work from heaven. Sad that he died, but no doubt he wears the Crown

It wounds me to read such uncharitable comments from any Catholic.

I always thought the admonition in so many Marian apparitions to defend the pope, stand by the pope, stay united to the pope as the anchor for us to avoid the deception of this age, was a no-brainer. It breaks my heart to see committed Catholics falling for this deception to viewing the Holy Father with suspicion, and then falling down the slope to open attack on his person and his leadership of the Church! This may seem like a game, but it puts their souls in grave danger.

How could any educated Catholic honestly believe that they will get a pass at their judgment for critiquing and attacking our Holy Father, or worse, that this sport they engage in is pleasing to God? Do they not believe that they will be called to account for every word that comes from their mouths? Do they not have any fear of the Lord???

I've heard all of the rationalizations for this behavior. Here's the bottom line: if you protest against the person chosen by God to take the office of Peter, you are, in effect, a protestant. Attacking the Holy Father makes you an enemy of the Church.

You believe he went STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN? Without confession and THE EUCHARIST his whole life and STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN, eh?

It wouldn't surprise me. From those who have been given much, much will be asked. If we recieve the gift of the Eucharist clearly more will be asked from us.

Since he became so holy without the aid of the Eucharist then....

....as to straight to heaven I don't know. But certainly I hope to give him a big hug up there one day if we bump into one another. Certainly he seemed far closer to God than many, many Catholic priests I have known.

I think too Grace can flow in streams like rivers. Dam one stream up and even more water will run in the other rivers. So dam the Eucharist up and grace wil lrun even more strongly through other grace sources like say, scripture or fellowship or whatever.

I don't think God will sell us short, he loves us to much. In genreal I would say people do not choose to be Protestant , they are born into it. They honestly believe what they are doing is right. Given this I don't think God would penalise them for what is, in effect an honest mistake. I hope not, anyway, I have made enough mistakes myself, not all of them honest at all.

as for those who choose Protestantism, why I am sure they are honest in their choice too. I suspect God does not view such things quite as hardly as we sometimes do.

I can't believe the news of his death, Bishop Tony was brave.

Oh blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a font of
mercy...for your beloved Bishop Tony...I trust in you.

    and...

Eternal rest, grant unto him/her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May Tony Palmer rest in peace. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

But you said " no doubt he wears the crown." Which would imply he is in heaven and in no need of prayers. The best thing we could do is NOT assume he is in heaven and pray for his soul continuously.

Quite correct no doubt he either wears the crown or if he does not no doubt he one day will.

If I had to make a good guess though, he's got his crown welll worn in by now.

He didn't strike me as the kinda guy God would keep standing about in the hallway too long.

I will spare a payer for Tony. We cant be sure of his destination.
Matthew 7:20-23Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
