I was advised because of the cyber attacks not to allow new members for a week so That is what I am doing.

Also can I ask all members not to post pictures or links of the next few days in case they are toxic.

I might need to close the forum for a while. The Euro Police warn that it will be very bad on Monday. It might be best to be safe. I will post if I am closing. It is better safe than sorry. If I do close it will be only temporary till this thing is over.

I am advised to keep the forum open. But I f our hosts , Hostgator are attacked or the people who designed the forum Xenoforum are attacked and brought down there is not much to do.

All this, it seems to me is the work of the devil.

I don't believe all this harm comes from a small group of criminals.. It seems more the work of some techno savvy country with evil intent

    Julia,

You can get to the thread internally, I believe, by using the search mechanism.

Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

My PC is setup for auto downloads of Windows updates but there was a couple still not downloaded so I went manual mode. I've been trying for 24 hours to get them but keep getting "timeouts". They must be millions of folks trying to get updates and "the lines are busy"! Just another SIGN for those still napping!

I hope we don't lose this forum. How horrible to have this happen . I too think it is very very suspect.

When Ya get a new one consider using synthetic oil. It costs 3X conventional oil but worth it. For the past 40 years I am convinced that it's superior and improves gas mileage too if used in the gearbox and rear end/x-fer case. Every new car/truck of mine gets synthetic oil & gear lube at 1500 miles (after break-in).... even power steering pump.
    Happy Miles :)

I think this is prudent Padraig, and probably should be done before sun up in the southeast Asian area.

Some expert on the news last night said that our computers could be affected if we don't have the latest Windows patch. He said that the virus searches for computers which don't have the patch, so opening windows could be enough to make the computer a target. I haven't updated Windows in a very long time. I had so many problems with updates not installing properly or causing the computer to malfunction that I disabled updates altogether. After that warning on the news, I decided to bite the bullet and do the updates. Well, the computer has been checking for updates all night and it must be stuck because there's not a sign of any progess. At this stage all I have to show for it is a patchy night's sleep. What's the point of warning us to do an update if windows won't download them? I'm tempted to click on cancel because at this rate there will be a cure for the virus and the hackers arrested, tried and convicted before Windows finds the updates for my system.

QuD, I am bumping this thread because I don't think many members have seen it.
Also I wonder if you could possibly put a banner on the home page that has a warning about this. If not no worries, thank you for all that you do.
