You may have seen in recent posts that @padraig is hoping to move to Abruzzo, Umbria or some other relatively remote and hopefully mountainous area in Italy, by this summer if at all possible. He needs to know everything possible about living as an expat in Italy, and especially, he needs help finding a remote property to rent that is basically livable, i.e., at least has water and electricity, and several bedrooms, even if it needs fixed up a bit. Inexpensive would help. He needs help “…to search for properties in Abruzzo [Umbria?]/ Rome or any where else in Italy that I might rent? The more remote the better.” Preferably a house, north or west of Rome. (I’m probably coming over too, at least for an extended visit, to help with any handy work I can.) Any suggestions? Anything he definitely needs to bring along he might otherwise forget?
Maybe a helpful suggestions such as... (depending on how high up altitude in the mountain) Look up and research online on what "high altitude living" effects may have affect on person(s) health, sleeping, cooking/baking while using the oven, print out cooking conversion chart for recipes (or maybe there's a specialized cookbooks out there) and print out correct oven temperatures to use, maybe certain altitude-related medicines to have in handy, what kind of animal predators and birds to expect in that kind of mountainous environment, weather cycles & wind patterns, etc. I'm no expert on living in the mountains but myself have been to South Dakota and Colorado.
As for a place of abode... could there be any secluded small monastery of monks that might have a small unused building on their land that he could fix it up into his own place to live in and a plus, for him to occasionly join the monks as a visitor/friend in intervals of prayer time and Mass...and who knows, he could learn how to sing gregorian chants! Another side note: I think I saw in Taylor Marshall's podcast that there was an advertisement for real estate organization for Catholics in buying or selling homes in USA but who knows if that particular real estate organization may have a realtor who could point Padraig into a direction as a referral to a Catholic realtor in foreign land homes to buy or rent in Italy. I don't know... just a thought!
I doubt there will be any rental properties that high up in the mountains that he would need to worry about cooking/baking, and his two huge dogs I would think would scare off any wildlife that might be found in Italy.
Okay...just putting my input thoughts out there to help out on this thread. I agree, his dogs will help ward off any wildlife! Lol
Here https://motheofgod.com/threads/the-third-secret-of-fatima.18362/page-3#post-381916 Padraig stated: I am thinking of moving down to Italy as soon as I can. Some nice remote place. I will do so , quick as I can. I understand now now what the Good Lord said to me on St Padraig's Day, 'Your time has come'. I must hustle and bustle to Italy to live. Hopefully I will be there by midsummer or sooner. Hustle and bustle. I would love up the mountains, far, far away. Far, far from armies. Looking froward so much to living there. I do hope my Italian is good enough to get by. St Joseph help me to prepare and get my old ass in Motion. Our Lady of Loreto find my new home. Baby Jesus travel with me in your arms. So excited and happy!
No problem. I’ve lived east of the Mississippi my whole life so never had to worry about elevation. Our highest “mountains” in Pennsylvania were 3500’. But I could be completely wrong. Maybe there are dwellings above 5,000-6,000 feet in Italy?
Part of Italy is in the Alps, up North. But Abruzzo and Umbria should be fine, not higher than 2,000m, no need to worry about altitude.
Looks like there are only about 50 bear left in central Italy, and those only in the national park in Abruzzo: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsican_brown_bear Padraig’s dogs will be disappointed, I’m sure.
Yeah, maybe...I didn't look it up myself...I just presumed there may be that way up higher over there. I've only been in Rome/Vatican City once but have not gone elsewhere (outside of Rome) in Italy. I've always wanted to visit the St. Michael cave, House of Loretto and Mugnano, Italy where the Shrine of St. Philomena is located at.
Everyone is mentioning all the incredible art, history and religious patrimony of Italy. I’m just a redneck camhead from rural Pennsylvania; I just want to drive a Piaggio Ape! (Or a Ferrari!)
Padraig, ask Our Lady to find a place where you can easily access the sacraments. Safe under Mary's Mantle!
Good news for Padraig Abruzzo is one of the cheaper places to buy property in Italy. Here are properties all under £50k. https://www.abruzzoreality.com/properties-for-sale/under-50
What about this one? https://www.abruzzoreality.com/index.php/properties-for-sale/under-50/item/530-casa-fagnani

Sorry just realized Padraig looking to rent a property rather than buy. May our Lady guide him to his new home.
Idealista https://www.idealista.it/en/ seems to be the Italian equivalent of DAFT. I think that Padraig is interested in renting until he gets to know the area. Idealista has rental properties and properties for sale. Kyero also does property rentals: https://www.kyero.com/en/italy If he's renting a place in the mountains, especially if it's an older house, he might want to look into the type and cost of heating in winter as well as internet availability. Expat forums can be good sources of information but beware of expats who frequent those forums to drum up business for real estate agents and service providers because the cost of their commission will be passed on to the customer.
That’s definitely a fixer upper: Type of Property: Ruin No photos of interior. (missing windows and doors?)
